I believe that artificial intelligence (AI) should not be used in infantry, as it is currently not effective. The AI is unable to accurately target enemies that AI soldiers are not aware of in combat situations and are standing still like toys, making it useless. Unless the AI is improved, similar to the AI used in games such as Ready or Not or Splinter Cell, it should be removed from use. Otherwise, it may lead to the enemy discovering your location. Additionally, when pressing ‘x’ to have the AI remain at a specific location, they may follow you if you move too far away due to the distance parameter which is annoying.
This game has great potential. Let’s not ruin it and work on improving it.
I agree there are problems with the AI, but the AI is one of the most unique parts of the game and I would rather play HLL or post scriptum than play Enlisted with the AI removed.
Your problem will be solved if you play Lone Fighter, so please do so.
It seems like you may have misunderstood my comment, or perhaps you are simply being biased. In its current state, the AI implementation in the game is not ideal. If it is intended to be a unique feature of the game, then the developers should prioritize improving it; otherwise, poorly managed AI ruins the game experiment for the majority of players (I also conducted a brief survey with friends and other players I met, and they agreed with me), as there has been no noticeable improvement in the AI behavior since the Closed Beta from my end in as much as I see.
AI is not the only problem they have promised to improve but have not achieved. It is also a leap of logic to say that because there has been no progress in AI that it is not an important feature for the game.
There are countless things in the game that need to be improved that have been left out, ranging from core problems to minor bugs.
The Dev’s abilities are not satisfactory from our point of view and seem lazy, but they have not abandoned fixing them, they continue to improve, albeit in minor ways, and the same goes for the AI. So I don’t want this game to be a degraded copy of HLL, I will just wait for it to get better.
If you want to play in matches without AI, just play lone fighter, that’s all.
There is no need to suggest that the AI be taken away from other players.
This claim is just a “my friends agree with me” kind of thing. It is meaningless to me and many other players.
If you insist on a survey, you need to hear from at least a few thousand players. It is neither statistically meaningful nor democratic.
At the very least, your “survey” does not reflect the opinions of the players as a whole, since you started talking about it on the forum and I immediately came along with an opposing view.
You claim it’s a unique feature, but I don’t think most true PVP players would enjoy killing AI, especially not to this extent of integrated AI. If we conducted a real survey in PVP communities, they would likely agree (that’s what democracy means). If I enjoyed the gameplay of Hell Let Loose, I would stick with it.
“Your problem will be solved if you play Lone Fighter, so please do so.” What a misguided comment; we’re critiquing the game for improvements. We are discussing how it should be mainly implemented in general game mode. You can have AI in vehicles, such as Tanks, etc, as a unique feature, but for the infantry at the current stage, they should be removed until they are well improved. Also, if you want to wait, you can wait until it’s added back with an improved version. *The Lonefighter style is only listed on custom games and is poorly prepared. This is a major issue that significantly impacts the gameplay experience, not minor, despite the other positive aspects.
It’s the PVP community players that keep the game alive. +
That’s because this game wasn’t made mainly for competitive pvp players in the first place.
Bot squads is the main feature of this game. And if you don’t like it, you can either play lone fighters in customs or just stop playing this game altogether.
Btw. It’s hilarious when a CBT guy suggests removing bot squads after three years of this mechanic being in the game. Definitely a realistic request lmao.
Pure disillusionment. We haven’t had a proper pvp event for nearly a year.
Personally I consider Moscow Beta Testing AI to be much superior to our AI that we have now - specifically because it was super dumb.
AI was basically always shooting when it could, even while on the move. It never was super accurate, but having constant suppressive fire made players die quickly when playing recklessly.
AI was effective because it kept shooting all the time, instead of going into cover, running from grenades.
They never stopped to aim like today, they kept following the player and did fire on the move, seriously I put my AI sometimes specifically on passive, so they don’t return fire but keep moving to the objective.
Standing still to aim at enemies means they are easy targets, AI does that all the time, even in the middle of a field without cover.
The biggest problem with AI balance is foliage, which was the reason AI received massive nerfs after Moscow Beta testing - Normandy got introduced, and AI suddenly stated shooting through bushes and tall grass, a massive problem that was irrelevant in Moscow.
All that needs to happen to make AI great in this game is to make sure it fires more frequently and reacts faster without being too accurate, while also keeping visual cover and foliage on the maps to a minimum.
Your comment seems like something a fanboy would say: I didn’t keep playing after Closed Beta; I re-downloaded it to see if there were any improvements. Unfortunately, there were none in terms of AI (although I did appreciate the other enhancements in graphics and gameplay). As experienced players, it’s important for us to critique the game in order to keep it alive and thriving. On the contrary, your ignorant comments contribute to the problem, much like how the DICE developers killed the Battlefield series with their last few games, and the fanboys defended the negative features as usual.
Considering how poorly the AI in current terms performs OR how absolutely rtarded it is in certain maps where they shoot you thru bushes without seeing anything.
Not exactly sure how they would be improvement in tank.
Either they would be useless and waste the tank slot or snipe people thru bushes.
Dont really see how this would work out in many of the maps that has lots of open crossings & choke points.
Even in current terms, you most likely will lose anything between 1 - entire squad when crossing such chokes / open fields.
So technically it would be even harder to cross them due to there being alot less targets for defenders to shoot.
Which pretty much was one of the many issues with lone wolf, back in days when it was available in matchmake as gamemode.
But you cant wait ?
I keep constantly hearing about these unicorn, HA, realism and what ever communities but ive never actually seen one.
I do believe that majority did enjoy the merge due to games now being populated and thus offering less que time and atleast somekind of challenge in game.
Over the full bot games that were nothing but boring.
But if theres actually a community looking purely for PVP action, I think they made just as shtty game choice as this so called “HA / Realism” community did.
Battlefield 2042, developed by DICE, experienced a significant decline in its player base following its launch. Initially, the game launched with 100,000 players on Steam in November, but it eventually saw a dramatic decrease, hovering around 10,000 players per day. This decline was so steep that within five months of its release, the title’s concurrent player base on Steam fell below 1,000. This loss of players was attributed to various issues with the game, including missing features, broken mechanics, and a multitude of bugs, leading to significant criticism from the players and a considerable loss of face for DICE.
DICE was influenced by a certain segment of the fanbase, often referred to as “fanboys,” which potentially contributed to a sort of tunnel vision. This could have led to the developers not paying sufficient attention to the feedback and concerns of veteran players. The enthusiasm and unwavering support of these fanboys might have overshadowed the critical feedback from seasoned players, who often have a more nuanced understanding of what they expect from a game like Battlefield 2042.
As a result, the developers might have missed crucial insights and suggestions that could have steered the game in a direction more aligned with the expectations and preferences of long-time fans. This imbalance in considering player feedback can lead to a disconnect between what the developers deliver and what the core player base actually desires, ultimately affecting the game’s success and reception. It’s a delicate balance to maintain, ensuring that the voices of both new and veteran players are heard and adequately addressed in game development.
So do not try to do the same for this game with great potential.
Dont really think these are comparable as BF2042 was nothing like its predecessors.
It was broken, full of bugs and the gameplay was entirely different from previous games.
As someone who tried it, it lacked entirely the feeling of BF gameplay it was just one massive cluster fk chaos.
Meh, its been the same since BF3. BF3 if I recall was supposed to be “first” BF game with destructable playing field, which eventually was switched to some houses that could be destroyed much due to consoles.
And even back then, the ridiculous timelines given from EA to dice has been the major contributor for absolute sht show of releases.
Well the AI has always been the part of the game, removing it now would probably be same as introducing suppression in BF3 which quite effectively killed the entire gunplay of the game.
Are only those who agree with you “true” PVP players and everone else is just a fake or what?
Then stick with HLL? Why should their opinion even matter for our community?
The AI is part of the game if you like it or not.
It always was the main mode of the game even before lone fighters was officialy retired to customs only.
Making Ai into terminators would make them more “usefull” but it would massively devalue the players themself which might not always be bad if done well but would make the game less accessable for new players as they would get rekt by bots and call cheats everywhere.
Aside from the performance of the AI, the idea of letting the player command AI soldiers was definitely at the core of this game.
At least when I have seen what people have been saying about this game in the media and on Youtube so far, people have described this game as a PVPVE.
SW:Battlefront, TITANFALL and Battlefield 2042 are all based on the same concept. In those games too, the AI is not a threat to the player, but acts as a stage set or gimmick to stage the battlefield.
It is ludicrous to ignore such facts and only try to make your point.
You are the one who should stop the game.
There is no need to remove the AI for you, and there is no need for players who want to play Enlisted as it is to stop the game for you.
Only you should stop the game until the AI is improved.
In fact, you don’t even have to stop the game, because there is a game mode called Lone Fighter for players who find the AI abhorrent, so you can at least have fun there.
I do agree with the fact that AI need major improvements, but that’s not a reason to remove it from the game until then. In fact, AI seems to be essential to the gameplay, removing them from the battlefield would look very unrealistic and empty too. Devs must improve AI, and to do so it needs to stay in the game during developpment, to see the evolution / to have more datas / more players feedbacks.
Improve the bots paths (going through windows or obstacles)
Shooting while moving to take cover (even with less accuracy, it would be realistic)
Add a crouch running mechanic for players an bots (Red Orchestra 2 mechanic is perfect)
Better reaction in close quarters (how many time I got killed and see my AI look at the enemy without doing anything before getting killed)
Having a better squad menu with better orders, more pertinent AI actions
AI more aware of the situation, taking cover while “knowing” from which direction most enemies will come from (pre-determined by maps)
I would also remind you that enlisted is a squad game, infantry units were and are fighting in squads : not alone. So removing them would make enlisted not worth it at all.
I might have been misunderstood in the beginning. I said it should be removed until it’s improved like the points in your reply are added and covered. Other than that, I agree with you.
But why even remove them even temporary?
The game is based around you having a squad so you would lose your engie when you need ammo or the AT soldier when a tank is coming and the assaulter for the close quarters…
There is nothing you gain from removing them for me personaly.
When an enemy tank approaches, your AI soldiers standing like statues will reveal your location and make the enemy tank shred you into pieces.
Or when you jump with your airborne units from a plane upon landing, they will watch an enemy player with MG coming at them and kill them in seconds. They will just watch.
Do you like these experiments? Is this what you defend for?..
Read panzerscott reply to my post, he discovered my point.
