Richard Bong and his P-38J Lightning, nicknamed Marge
Richard Dick Bong was one of the most decorated pilots in WW2, topping out at forty kills. He would go on to earn the Medal of Honor and other awards before his untimely death on August 6, 1945.

Hans Joachim Marseille and his BF 109F-4 Trop

Der Stern von Afrika was considered to be one of, if not the greatest, pilots in the Luftwaffe, and quite possibly World War II, earning over 100 kills in one year’s time. He had earned the Knight’s Cross with Golden Oak Leaves, Swords, Diamonds, and other awards before his death on September 30th, 1942.

George H. W. Bush and his TBF Avenger (AP-1 in Enlisted), nicknamed Barbara III

George Skin H. W. Bush was one of the youngest pilots in the Navy in 1943. He would go on to earn the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal (two gold stars), and a presidential unit citation. After the war, he would go on to join the Skulls and Bones group, become the director of the CIA, and become the 41st President of the United States before his death on November 30th, 2018.
