Since people complain that the US and USSR has so few weapons but germany so many I would propose to add their fair share of new weapons to make them feel just so much more more like the axis.
My proposal would be to add some new variants like
-prewar/early/late (post war for soviets)
-brich/walnut/cherry/laminated etc.
and possibly one could even add damaged variants just so you could get extra amount of variants.
So if done properly by mixing all of those variants they could easiely add 30 new weapons to each of the tech trees which in turn would make the factions a lot stronger (apparently) and should help all those struggling mains to overcome the inherent disadvantage they are facing in low BR due to weapon quantity (or even high BR if devs learn let themselfs inspire by the japnese TT philosopy where overtiered is the norm).

1903A3 is still missing from the TT and could be added to give the US at least one more BA option.
Other than that, IDK what else could be added for the US.
For the Soviets they could add the WW1 Mosin 1891. They could add the Cossack variant of the Mosin though I think its almost identical to the Dragoon, it could be given a different wood color though to make it at least seem unique. They could also add the Arisaka Type 30, Arisaka Type 35, or the Arisaka Type 38 since these were purchased during WW1, and they maybe could have still been in use by soldiers stationed in the far east. Other than that IDK. A lot of people don’t like adding foreign weapons to other nations TT’s though, I personally don’t have much problem with it depending on the weapon being added.
The Germans have the highest variety of options for Bolt Actions. There are still a few that I would like to be added to the German TT and just foldered (Japan also still has a few that I would like to be added and just foldered).

I’d love to take normal Kar98k’s, but let them have the stats of a pre-war version, variety is always good!
Sadly, the Allies did not have quite as drastic changes as the Axis in production of rifles, the US took what they had and ran with it (only switching from producing the the A1 springfield to the A3, a very basic simplification), and so was the British No. 4 Mk I, that got a star added on the end (“No. 4 Mk I*”) but that one didn’t even replace the original in production (and it’s also a small change few people would even recognize visually, I wouldn’t).
The truth is, the Western Allies did not have the same ammount of variation as Axis rifles…
But wood type and metal finish would be great options to have in the future, so you can really style up your gear, but unfortunately such a system wouldn’t work with how weapons work now. I think it might be simpler to have a “weapon archetype” system where you unlock the stats in the tech tree and the basic visual version, then you can choose to overlay that gun with the visuals of another similar rifle (preferably of the same type, so only Kar98k versions for Kar98k stats).
Isn’t it already in? Is it the resource sheet or my eyes that are lying to me?

The Scoped Springfield M1903A3 is in game, but the regular version isn’t.

Oh, it’s a sniper? That explains it! Yeah, it really should come in its standard variation then!
