Gewehr 98 and Mosin 1891

America, Britain, Italy, and Japan all have their original WW1 service rifle in the Research Tree. Germany and USSR should receive theirs too. These rifles still soldiered on into WW2. For history and variety! They should be added to the Research Tree

Isnt the Dragoon Mosin a WW1 rifle?

Yeah technically but it’s a shortened version used for Calvary or horseback troops (it fits inbetween a 1907 carbine and 1891 infantry rifle in length).

Sane as the Gewehr 98 being the longer version of the Kar98 (Kar being karabiner or Carbine in German).

i thought the OG infantry mosin was an alpha backer weapon like the MP41 (not the ppsh, the mp40 with the wooden stock)

The 1907 Carbine is the pre-WW1 Russian rifle.

But really …

…so what? There’s nothing meaningful about that little factoid that in any way requires anything else be done at all.

Well so Germany and USSR get theirs too!

I don’t mind more variety being added.

Honestly I thought the Gewehr 98 was in already as a GO weapon, and I mean seems a bit redundant for yet another moist nugget to strike the tower.

Saying that more variety is better so why not I suppose.

That was the G98 with trench mag

I knew that was there, but wasnt there just the plain BA too?

A sniper variant is in the RT

I’d like the standard rifle

That was beta backer pack.

I found it, I was thinking of the 1888, not the 98.

non sequitur - why does that have to happen?

History, it represents the standard issue rifle of these countries used in WW1 that evolved into the standard rifles of WW2, as well as they did see some use in WW2

Variety, a new gun to add to our arsenals

Gameplay, these rifles have longer effective ranges than their shorter children

Equality, USA, Britain, Italy, and Japan have their WW1 rifle so the set should be complete
