It may be an unpopular opnion but I believe it’s for the greater good.
Medics and engineers shouldn’t have acces to SMGs and ARs. It’s not such a big deal in case of engineers as it will be kind of an event/special squad but still.
Why? Simply put, it waters down the class roles.
Good example are current medics. Many ppl take them not because of their healing abilities, but because of SMGs they have. (No, “I use medics to heal so they are good” is not a good argument.)
So we end up with medics that are bad at healing and aren’t even used for healing most of the time. Then what is their purpose? To be assaulters with a gimmic? Instead you should improve healing etc. so ppl want to use medics for their actuall skills.
TLDR
Make clases have unique abilities that make them worth using. Giving an AR to a class doesn’t make it actually better. It makes clases into grey goo.
honestly I kinda agree with you, giving automatic weapons to everybody is kinda stupid and downplays most of their purpose, but tbh all of the Engineer AR issue only happened because of their decision of adding such ability making me think they really didn’t think it through, medics are all that you said, just assaulters with bandages boxes, so they need to redesign the class and actually make it useful instead of just giving them another type of weapons
only if you give them some kind of area of heal, maybe a med grenade or station that heals all soldier in the area slowly otherwise you are just nerfing the poor medic
everyone of you wants to use the nerf hammer, ok i the genie grant you one wish to take away the medics SMG what do you give him in return for the removal of the SMG
Just give them the ability to construct/set down a tent that gives back enough tickets to spawn 1 squad once around 30 allies have died within its radius, hard limit how many can be placed of course
Other constructable/placable objects could help Regen of stamina within the area, etc
Passive healing could be a bit too good depending on how implemented imo
What about the ability to revive fallen soldiers it would make the corpses on the ground more useful

You know, this weird thing medics are supposed to do.
(If players at least pretended to follow to rules of war that might make sense, as it is they would only be targets, and how much better at heal you get with touching distance and insta heal them or in three second of healing heal the entire squad still alive otherwise in enlisted it’s a major nerf with almost no upside it would only work if they greatly increased the soldiers life or greatly decreased every weapons damage)
Personally I think we should have revive option with some limitations (for example no revive for those who died from explosions or headshots).
I really don’t know why we don’t have it yet. (But at least we have ARs.)
Whenever I play as Medic I always focus on healing the team, no matter how useless some would say that is. Hey I’m a Medic so I might as well do my job.
