AA Guns being used as anti-infantry

I don’t think players should be able to lower the AA gun so that they can use it as anti-infantry.

so you would see it utterly useless for anything at all?

flak guns were used in ground attack roles through the entire war.

Rapid firing 20mm cannons continue to be used in anti-infantry roles to this day.

You use AA guns to shoot down planes. It works if you actually try it. Don’t tell me you don’t know how to shoot down a plane.

AA guns are currently very ineffective against planes. put three belts into a plane and he kept going.

It’s way better than the P-51. With the AA gun, 1-2 shots and I down a German plane. The P-51 on average I have to put in all my ammo into it unless I get lucky and hit an important part.

Ok so you like it’s ability to down airplanes … Why can’t it also be used against infantry because as was mentioned previously they were used for both …

I’ve never shot down any plane with “1-2 shots”, in either Moscow or normandy - on either side - with any weapon.

The only one I can think would do that is the Me-110 with 30 and 37mm cannon.

Yeah, the function of the AA gun is to will kill air units.

The function of every weapon is to kill any enemy that it is directed at - regardless of what it is called.

That is why the Japanese had an AA round for the Yamato 18" guns, and why 20mm AA is good vs infantry as well as aircraft.

Well, just because you can’t doesn’t mean others can’t.

I guess I’m just talking only to people that use AA guns to kill infantry.

I can hit aircraft fine with the AA gun - although I’ve given up building them for this purpose since they are crap.

You’ll find multiple threads on here lamenting it’s lack of usefulness against aircraft from all sorts of people from all campaigns.

I’ve built the AA specifically to use vs infantry exactly once in the 4 or 5 months I’ve played the game - that was 2 nights ago.

Well, then you should know that AA guns kill planes just fine. Only issue is that the turn speed is slow, and I wish the shots went out faster, but oh well. It works, just not as well as people would want.

I’m tired of these people using AA guns on top of roofs specifically to only kill infantry like glorified snipers, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since so many people like sniping without actually contesting a point.

Well, whatever looks like no one likes my suggestion. Whatever.

I know this is not a widely shared observation - to the point where I’m going to say bulldust - video or you are making it up.

You would have hated WWII…

Except it was used like this on both sides of the war.

I have no need to prove to anybody that I can take down planes with an AA gun, too lazy for that. Believe what you want. This was not the intention of my post as I have nothing against the AA gun being used to kill air.

No point replying anymore now that it looks like I’m getting trolled now. Have fun.

germans being unfair with a flak gun. (not colorized)

Germans once again trolling allies with improper flak gun use. (surprisingly flak gun use is not in the geneva convention)

But its historically accurate to use flak guns against infantry and we arent trolling.
