I don’t know what plane you were shooting at, but I downed an IL type-3 and a La-5 in one belt in one game today. If you haven’t used AA guns for AA purposes recently then that’s prolly why.

AA guns were designed to kill planes, but they, like any guns, can be used to kill whatever they can hit. You can use LMGs to down planes. In real life large AA guns were even used to kill tanks.

There is no Il type 3… I presume you mean Il-2 - so why were you shooting at both German and Soviet planes in a single game??

Meant La-5 instead of Bf 109. Il type 3 is the Il-2m type 3.
I just presented my opinion for the gameplay value, and people are actually just arguing for actual historical value. I just don’t believe AA guns should be used as anti-infantry as I believe it’s not fun to play against.
Just like the tank players that park their tanks in the gray zones where infantry cannot reach due to mechanics.
give me a rocket launcher i’m gonna try and shoot it at a person.
give me a rifle i’m gonna try and shoot it at a person
give me a 20mm cannon i’m going to try and shoot it at a person.

Fortunately, rocket launchers are not great against infantry. Not enough spread I guess.

How often do you do that?
Last time I built AA for AA work would have bene 3 or 4 weeks ago - got a couple of hits on a 110 and it died - but it was an idiot kamikaze anyway and I hit it right before it killed itself with its own rockets - I got no credit!
