A few high-BR Machine Gun suggestions

MG-81 Infantry

The MG-81 was a German Luftwaffe machine gun intended for aircraft use. You may know it best as the tail-gun on the Stuka. In addition, a series of “slow firing” MG-81 machine guns were produced for infantry and vehicular use.

A relic from WW1, the word “light” is doing a lot of work for this gun in. Like its Russian counterpart, this hefty weapon system is itself a derivative of the Maxim Machine Gun, and saw service well into WW2 officially being retired from service in 1945.

Nation: Germany
Suggested BR: V
Cartridge: 7.92×57mm Mauser
Fire Rate: 600 rpm
Feed System: 100 round cloth belt
Muzzle velocity: 878 m/s
Weight: 18 kg
Weapon Type: Tech Tree

T24 LMG

An American attempt to copy the MG-42 chambered in the .30-06 Springfield round. The project began in early 1943 and was plagued by reliability issues throughout development. It would finally be cancelled a year later in 1944, although lessons learned would later aide the development of the M60.

Nation: America
Suggested BR: IV
Cartridge: .30-06 Springfield
Fire Rate: 610 rpm
Feed System: 50 round belt
Muzzle velocity: 820 m/s
Weight: 11.1 kg
Weapon Type: Gold Order or Event Weapon

Type 92 LMG

Not to be confused with the Type 92 HMG, the Type 92 LMG was essentially a Japanese copy of the Lewis Gun intended for aircraft use. It proved poorly suited in this role and would later be issued as a handheld anti-air LMG to ground and seaborn troops, a role it also failed to excel at.

Nation: Japan
Suggested BR: V
Cartridge: IJN 7.7x56R Type 87
Fire Rate: 600 rpm
Feed System: 97 round pan magazine
Muzzle velocity: 743 m/s
Weight: 8.5 kg
Weapon Type: Tech Tree

Type 89 machine gun

A Japanese naval machine gun also pushed into service with the naval infantry. (Pictured here being used by Indonesian student soldiers).

Nation: Japan
Suggested BR: V
Cartridge: 7.7×58mm Arisaka
Fire Rate: 700 rpm
Feed System: 100 round belt
Muzzle velocity: 820 m/s

The MG81 or MG81Z are good options for event weapons for the Axis as the Stinger was with the Allies.

I’d love to have an MG 34 in 30-06. Give it a 100 round belt too! Lol

I would also want belt fed mg 34 or mg 42. These guns are cool but i would much rather equip my squad with more iconic guns for ha reasons

Fantastic list! I hope most if not all of these get added to the base game. I am also interested in this ‘Japanese Stinger’.

T-44
I want the T-44. It was a post war American prototype, but considering it was them slapping an MG-42 feed cover on an FG-42 I wouldn’t be opposed to Germany getting it.

If devs choose the mg-08 for tech tree 100 rounds mg, it will just be adding insult to the injury imo.

Could be a cool gold order tho.

I hope it will be one of the iconic ones with long belts.

I’d love for an event weapon equal to the stinger for Japan, truly would be a blessing yes please

This project would eventually feed into the development of the M60 LMG, so I definitely would like to see America get this.

Completely disagree.

Explain about what.

Out of all of these the MG-08/15 or MG-08/17 are the guns I want to the most. This isn’t to say other tech tree can’t be added too (For example, I also want to the MG-81. That would be cool too) but the MG-08 is the most obvious addition in terms of comparable weaponry.

I could also see the MG-39/41 with a bunker belt as an event reward . The MG-39 had issues jamming with larger belts, but one of the upgrades in the MG-39/41 was the strengthening the feed system to accompany longer “bunker belts”. Yeah, these belts wouldn’t really be used by infantry, but I think it’s okay for an event reward. It’d basically be the German equivalent to the Stinger.

Well everyone in Germany knows the saying “this is 08 -15” which means something is mediocre.

People just don’t know anymore that this comes actually from that MG.

It may be something you want but it’d be seriously insulting to the axis playerbase.

How long have they waited for a decent 100+ rounds lmg? Ww2 most iconic weapon is the mg42. Everyone know about that thing, even those who don’t know about ww2, or guns in general.

So, at the very top of the TT, adding the worst possible “lmg”, an old ww1 one at that, that would make soldiers slugs because of how heavy it is, while ALL other factions got late models…

It would be a slap in the face after all this time.

It doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be added. Just not as the long awaited TT one. Mg08 is worthy of event, gold order or premium squad.

Outside the RD44 and type 100 all other two 100rd MG in TT are Pre-war/WW1 stuff, so kinda make sense MG08/15 in TT for germany

It’s just eww.

Waiting this long only to get that thing…

Thought I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s what df goes for. It must not be powerful afterall.

No. Just because you’d be upset doesn’t mean its an insult.

Standard issue Infantry MG-42 was only issues with 50 round belts. They would only be linked up in emplaced positions.

All other factions (Aside from Japan, who must suffer) have WW1 era MGs at the top. Browning 1919. Maxim-Tokarev. The MG-08 is the equivalent to that.

No it wouldn’t.

No, it should be a tech tree item. There is no justifiable reason to make it an event reward or BP item.

It is as good as the top American and Soviet equivalent weapons.

No, it would be comparable to other top tier MGs.

Well, that’s only your opinion. I will keep mine.

We must agree to disagree it seems. Because I won’t stop hoping that ugly box doesn’t become the TT standard mg.

Seems like a bit of a stupid opinion to me, but hey you’re allowed to have it. Have a good day.
