Because it’s a pain to level up that squad just so you can unlock the engineer and the other stuff as well for that squad

Yes.
Red and yellow trees should be moved from squad unlocks to the tech tree. It’s super annoying now.

It’s not nice to be deadweight and BR5 just so you can level up certain particular things in your squad and possibly drag down your Team just so you can level up things.

With the merge update it seems like all squad upgrades require significantly less xp per level.
Before the update I’ve had all squads maxed out, with the update I have few top squads to grind and what I’ve noticed is that a squad which usually should require between 10000xp - 15000xp for just the first level, now it’s only about 1500xp.
So the same squad before the update would need over 500000xp to max out, but now it can be somewhere close to 120000xp. I’ve already finished these squads, so can’t check the exact number, it’s more from my memory, but I should be close enough. Remember, if you get 100% more xp from squad upgrades (blue), then all xp numbers (for a squad) you see at the end of a battle are just doubled on all next upgrades for that squad.
Overall squads, even the top ones, are much less grindy now, at least it seems like that, but I can’t check it myself for the old squads (already maxed out).

That’s true but at tier 5 there’s not much XP to go around at that level because you’re playing with elite players usually
