You have the wrong approach for bots Darkflow

yeah the AI is the main attraction of this game it is the game’s selling as well as breaking point right now hopefully we will get some good updates regarding the bots

It’s not a selling point when it’s effectively not there. It’s just an empty promise at this point. They had 4 years. If this is “the main attraction” it’s what they should have been focused on. And yet this nothing is the result (well, there’s also a battle royale, because the world definitely needed another battle royale).

Maybe it’s time to look for a different selling point before former supporters start looking for a different game. I don’t want to sound negative and I don’t want this game to fail (or any other game), but this isn’t looking good.

exactly…this bots can be assumed as the final product since it is already in beta

It feels like the devs underestimate the bot issue.
Kinda stupid aa the AI conntroled sqaudmates are the sole reason why someone should buy this game.

Well in their defense, they are a small studio and also have CURSED TOAD to work on (Yes I know it is CRSED FOAD but I just like to say cursed toad)

so since you can’t code the ai why not we do well in the cursed toad to make much monies?

I’d hope they use this to help with the development of Enlisted

I’m not blaming them for anything, I find blame to be pointless most of the time. It’s just that I don’t see any evidence that they will be able to fix bots in time. Yes it’s heartbreaking when you can’t deliver the original promise, but at some point you have to at least deliver something that works.

Excuse my crudeness here, but I have a burning hatred for Cuisine Royale (or CRSED: FOAD or whatever) and the development time an out of hand April fools joke has taken away from Enlisted.

I really could not agree more. I genuinely think that they added the bots super last minute into development and probably for the sole purpose of making war thunder tanks make sense in the game. I don’t recall seeing any previous marketing before launch of the OBT talking about having AI in the game.

The very first announcement (according to the archived version of the web page) did mention AI squads. “… In some modes, players won’t be fighting alone on the battlefield, they will be leading their own squad of AI controlled soldiers. …”

I don’t know what their intentions were or what they were doing this entire time. All I know is that now, four years later, bots don’t look like “the main attraction”. If they can fix everything in a timely manner - I’m all for it. It’s just that nothing I’ve seen from them suggests they can.

I can only hope they can assess the situation and make the right decisions. I’ve seen where wrong ones can lead and it wasn’t pretty. Eternal Crusade comes to mind, and so far Enlisted is on the same trajectory.

they don’t need to make sweeping changes to bots, just a few small but important points like aggro and very basic orders.

Less is usually more when you’re talking about something like this, rather than introducing new problems.

Time will tell if what you’re saying is accurate, but something tells me that small changes won’t be enough.

I’m saying that small changes at a time tend to work out better from what I’ve seen as opposed to the devs wasting time and money reworking major overhauls that might never see the light of day.

I bring up Dust 514 a lot when I talk about Enlisted, and that was actually a positive there- when the game lost most of its budget, the dev team was forced to only make small, easy changes at a time. While these updates almost felt like mods with how hasty the implementation was, they were widely loved by the community, and I’m among the crowd that says those easy fixes made a bigger difference than the expensive fixes from when their budget existed.

I think it comes down to the devs making a choice: Are they going to really make the Squad mechanic the main interesting selling point and flesh it out to create depth of gameplay; or are they going to try to add other things to the game to make it unique and keep the bots as more of a sideshow. All I know is that the current approach is not working. This type of lack of direction is nothing new, I see a lot of games that suffer from it, but consumers aren’t really going to care that the textures look nice.
