Imagine this: You are contacted personally by Anton and Kirill Yudintsev, the two russian founders of Gaijin Entertainment.
They tell you that this is your lucky day!
They have selected you to change 3 things in their Enlisted game.
The “things” can be anything, for example, but NOT limited to:
-
Add new functionality, items, units, game-play modes, maps etc. or remove something.
-
Alter anything already that is already in the game, for example but NOT limited to: visuals and visual effects, animations, customization (for example authentic uniforms and headgear, authentic insignia, vehicle emblems, skirts for female USSR soldiers), premium and regular units, maps, size and number of player squads in a match, re-introduce theaters/campaigns, change Enlisted from being mainly a PVP game to a PVE game instead, anything regarding the AI soldiers and AI squads, re-introduce weapons jamming/breaking, rewards and/or penalties, change the research tree focus of the game from weapons to soldiers and/or divisions, perks, gold soldiers/weapons/vehicles, monetization, gambling (chests etc.), the introduction of an authentic game-play mode with only items that were actually used in WW2 (so without prototypes and without post-1945 equipment), soldier classes and soldier capabilities.
-
Price changes of items (gold, silver, premium, battle pass et.), subscriptions.
-
Events and discounts (add, remove, alter etc.), yearly discount events, one yearly discount coupon for each player on the anniversary of making their account.
-
How to address anything regarding cheaters and cheating.
-
Server issues, technical issues.
So… this is your lucky day, Anton and Kirill Yudintsev grant you three Enlisted wishes!
They tell you: Your imagination is the only limit here, you are allowed and encouraged to be original, even radical and think out of the box and suggest anything, anything at all!
So, what 3 things would you choose?
Be original, think big and choose wisely!
Three aint enough but proabably
1: Bigger!!! (Play area) Maps, player count, Capzones, No grayzones…Im talking Big Action Mod Big…BIIIG)
2: Airfields
3: No Tech Tree Prototypes or unused equipment (BP, events, and premium are fine)

Twice as big as current maps or even larger?
THE WHOLE map…like BIg action Mod (I mean play area)
For example this is what the whole map looks like. We get to play areas like this (yellow Square)

So roughly that is about 50 or so times larger than a current map.
Bigger maps mean more players in a match too. For that map, at least one hundred on each side to not feel like a desert. Not sure the game engine can handle that well.

As to BR ±0 that leaves the issue that currently the BR rating is arbitrary and decided by the developers. Alternatively BR in years would make the game more authentic. So BR 1939, BR 1940, BR 1941, BR 1942, BR 1943, BR 1944, BR 1945.
Did you ever play big action mod? It works 25-40 a side

Nope. But I’ll take your word for it. I don’t mind the small maps myself. Makes the games feel more action packed. It’s why I don’t like Conquests with 5 points. You barely see the enemies.

When you have 20-40 FULL squads all converging on the same town to capture with Rallies and Halftracks, Its FAR more action packed than what we have now
It just removed the rail roading/bottle necking. you can go on large flanking manuevers which incidently makes tanks like the Puma and the BT-7 lethal to high BR tanks (there is no grayzone in which to camp)
Extreme range makes rifles a strong counter to SMGS and autos.
Which is why I say BR becomes less important…because you can actually flank…mobility becomes strong

Yes technical limitations and limitations of human players would likely be an issue here but… they are his three wishes, and he gets to choose what he wants.
Larger maps could be filled with more players, if the players are AI. And AI players would not only be able to populate larger maps but they also could make game play more interesting generally.
Personally I think that the fun days of PVP FPS gaming are over, the number of cheaters in PVP FPS games make PVP FPS gaming really not fun and rewarding anymore compared to how it used to be, for those players that do not cheat.
Currently generally about 30 to 70 percent of all human players in PVP FPS games cheat in one form or another according to research in this field.
Cheaters in most PVP FPS games are rewarded with more points, faster ranking up, bragging rights, more streaming viewers etc. and the methods of catching them simply cannot keep up with those that offer cheat software/hardware etc.
So PVE FPS games versus the AI on large maps could actually be an interesting idea.
Be that as it may, it is one of his wishes and he gets to choose.
So what are your three wishes?

Better AI. They are buffoons when attacked up close, ninjas when they’re camping in the corners and bash your skull in within a milisecond and the descendats of Zaitsev at longer ranges, one-shotting you through bushes and at long distances.
-
More fronts and maps in general coupled with a campaign feature.
-
More factions or sub factions, thus more weapons. French, Finnish, Hungarian, you name it. That with the more fronts and campaigns could balance the queues out. Sort of.
(P.s.: If the AI was a bit smarter, PVE like the Halloween event on those large maps could be fun.)
Improving the AI as one of the three would be a smart move. Currently the AI in PVP matches is simply not at a level where it should be and could be. If you setup a custom match with only you against the AI you will notice that they actually perform markedly better in that setting, based on that one could conclude that better AI actually already exists in the PVE custom matches in Enlisted, but that this AI level is not implemented in PVP matches in Enlisted.

Three things I can change?
-
BOTS, give them basic common sense, make them run when we run, stay where ordered to stay, use the same entrance we use and stay out of our way when shooting or throwing Grenades, or make them invisible to your bullets so they just pass through them.
-
All Event and premium squads would come with FULLY interchangeable weapons loadouts. No more having the squad you paid for married to a weapon, or a BR level.
-
Adapt a BAR to BR 2
I am curious: What good would replacing the Developer Team with the modding community do?
As for the jets, you would remove even the jets that actually participated near WW2 front-line combat of the kind represented in Enlisted? The only jets that actually participated near WW2 front-line combat of the kind represented in Enlisted are the Me 262 and the Ar 234.
I am curious: What would have to change to make “ranking rewards mean something”?
Allowing Event and Premium squads to change their weapons would not only be good for the game, but also be a smart move for Gaijin to make (even more) money. Currently the lower BR equipped Event and Premium units are not interesting to buy for anyone already playing at a higher BR. They also make buying them less interesting for new players as well, because they know in advance that their low BR Event and Premium units will become useless after moving to a higher BR level, which is inevitable.

I am just as curious too. I would say add nail salon discount vouchers for giggles for me, but seriously, portraits that you keep and not have a timer, special name decorators or a decent amount of a currency (like BP for those who pay for it), maybe add a league table for players by ranks to play for a prize like extra slots for squads, i dunno. There just is not enough gamafication in this game for my liking. Xxx
