I took screenshots to showcase any difference between before getting the perk and after selecting the perk:
I believe that nothing has changed, and the perk is useless.
My screenshots:
Before application effects are on the left, after effects are on the right.
IMO, rendering range needs to improve, when manning a flak, I notice that planes simply disappear suddenly if they are far away from you. And so is the rendering range for infantry on the ground which you want to strafe or bomb.
Then why is it called ‘focused and peripheral range’?
Shouldn’t that mean aircraft in front of you should be detected too, wherever you look?
Does it affect when the aiming lead circle appears?
Original question: Then what buffs do the two perks each have for the two aspects, friendly aircraft/enemy aircraft distinguishing range, and targeting lead circle appearance range?
Result:
gives you 50% targeting lead circle appearance range (‘detection range’), which results in 1500m effective firing range instead of 1000m unless you’re a skilled pilot; and
lets your friendly aircraft/enemy aircraft distinguishing range increase by 50%. The view cone goes beyond your field of view on camera, but if you open the map it will help you find enemy out of field of view.
The other perk lets your view cone increase to a wider cone. The cone goes beyond your field of view on camera, but if you open the map it will help you find enemy out of field of view.
My intuitive understanding of the affects of these two perks are now ‘+30%angle of focused and peripheral vision’ =distinguishing cone wider; ‘’’+50%enemy aircraft detection range’=distinguishing cone longer. Targeting range doesn’t get mentioned in the perk description, so I suggest adding it in.
Here’s a cute detail : The pilot detection perk works on the ground / outside the plane aswell. So you’ll see those enemy planes markers sooner/easier even after your plane unfortunately bit the dust.
