Would it make sense to give selectfire weapons an accuracy buff if they are set to semi auto?

Generally speaking full auto is used less in the actual real world, soldiers even in todays modern armies tend to prefer fast firing "semi auto single shots over full auto action.

So what do you guys think about a small accuracy and deviation buff if you switch to semi auto?

Would it benefit gameplay or is such mechanic an unnecessary gimmick?

The current stats should be set on semi and full should just increase recoil more (as the AVS and AVT were known for that and while I dont know about the FG, I think putting it as a supportive weapon wont hurt either).
No to stupid dispersion increase which cant be controlled by players.

The interesting thing about FGs specifically is that the two versions of it could be seen as the perfect example of gun builder having to decide whether they want better full auto controll or faster single fire follow up shots.

The devs have already nailed that one, since FG42 II was indeed the better MG, while the first variation had better single shot controll. The main difference between those two is bipod placement and the pistol grip angle.

The FG-42 should actually function this way. The gun fires from the open bolt in full auto and from a closed bolt in semi auto.

It is not- fast finger moving adds additional vibration to hand, it’s not good for accuracy, even on bipod.
If you firing slower, then gun can in full auto- it will be more accurate, but its not coz semi-auto, its coz lower fire rate.
Generally, it is no reason to set more accuracy to gun in game in semi mode, coz its same barrel, same bullet.
