For some troops like engineers could they build better like a different flack gun or anti tank, or be able to switch between buildings like have a group of smaller and weaker hedgehogs. There could even be different types of sandbags. Or even just a bit of Camouflage net like used with the Christmas trees were used.
We still don’t have nation-appropriate stuff implemented as far as engineers are concerned. I’d wait for that first. Other than that, I don’t think there’s any point in going too in-depth with building. Combat is way too fast and maps are way too compact for that. If implemented it would be like digging - sounds neat, is worthless in practice, some people do it anyway.
They said awhile ago they were going to add proper trenches to engineers, like with wooden sides and stuff, so hopefully.
Sandbags need to be alot more durable, their bags of sand shrapnel would barely do anything to them unless over time, yet artillery makes them fall apart if an explosion is simply nearby yet not even right by it. Also barbed wire just disappears into thin air and is still too week, it’s wire would it go away so easily.
I could see artillery tearing them to shreds, but a grenade ought to take more than a few. Barbed wire should have to be manually deconstructed or hit directly by artillery. The wires on them offer a tiny profile to get shredded so easily by grenades. That was the whole point of them = to slow you down, which isn’t going to happen when you can lob a grenade, get a kill or two and then storm in after without a care.
As to OP’s main point, I’d love to see more variety in what an engineer can build but, as someone else mentioned: I’d like them to get more faction specific builds first. It’d love to see some traps implemented too but, after some more refinement of what we’ve already got
