Why was the Pacific even made?

All the maps are full of grass and trees, half the modes you dont even assault the actual trench lines, then the beach is cluttered of unusable vehicles, the trench lines aren’t even used for most maps, the tanks are horrible useless what happened to the sherman that U.S should have? Why were float planes added with bombs that don’t do anything? Where are the planes with rockets? Why did you all give the Japanese a premium tank that has no LMG? Why do half the cap points have literally no actual lines of attack and the enemy is attacking from literally behind the defenders spawn, on top of hills firing down at them?

What and who actually thought some these maps were a good design?

It will probably be useable with the merge since it’s about equal to the Ho-I

P-47 will probably be out of their BR range, but you might be able to use the P-38, or the Beaufighter and A-20 with M8s.

Most likely not , Ho-I is equivalent to m8 Scott, not the Sherman. Sherman equivalent will be Chi Nu.

It’s in the game already, just in the files. It would make sense for them to add it then.

I don’t know much about tanks, I’m basing my comparison mostly on caliber and barrel length. I thought the Chi Nu would be closer to the Firefly.

There were numerous aspects of the game that were set up for in Pacific originally, such as the MGs mounted in the side of the Japanese tanks’ turrets (if you view the xray of the tank, they are there, but are inoperable). Likewise, the scoped MGs of the Japanese team aren’t even able to use the scope. The lunge mines were originally intended to be a unique addition, but they got nerfed down to the point they are really just a joke. Many of the Japanese weapons were intended to be used for mid-range combat instead of close range, but because of both poor map design, as well as an utter lack of defensive mechanics, most of their unique weapons just became obsolete against the American weaponry.

Thats not even to mention the massive imbalance between the SPAAs available to each side. The Japanese one being an absolute joke to use, while the American one is used more than any other tank in that campaign, despite being the first one you get.

The Pacific Ocean is not a good map design. I enjoy the game, but Pacific is the only one I have never found enjoyable.

Chi Nu is effectively a Panzer IV F2 with all the hallmarks of a Japanese tank, ie No coax and an AP shell with more explosive filler than any reasonable person would presume to stick in a shell of that size. Thus, it’s a fine match for the M4A1.

Lunge mines are fine, people just need to learn how to use them. They have zero post pen so you have to hit ammo. I’ll make a guide on how to use them at some point.

Shouldn’t it be comparable to a panzerfaust?

In theory probably, but that would be a bit OP so I get why they made it so it has no post pen instead.

Sherman with 105mm was planned for pacific and its equivalent was chi-ha short gun with 12cm.
But this was before merge was in mind.

That would have been (will be?) a problem… In WT, the Sherman 105 has got HEAT, while the Chi-Ha 120 has got HE only.

I’m afraid a Sherman 105 in Pacific would be a 2021 Jumbo situation all over again.

But the Sherman is made of tin foil, wouldn’t you be able to kill it with 120mm HE?

Sherman 105 is a late war hull.

According to War Thunder Wiki, the Japanese 120mm HE has 31mm of max penetration. While the armor of the M4A3 105 is thicker than that all-around, except for the roof.

This means that a Sherman 105 could easily disable or destroy a Chi-Ha 120 with any kind of successful hit, while the latter’s only chance is to land an accurate hit on the lower part of the turret, hoping to break the hull roof with the blast.

If that’s the case, then it sounds like it just wouldn’t be able to match with Japan until they get new paper gear.

sounds like an ideal pacific american tank then, based on progression with a shitton of shitty tanks for japanese (a joke of an spaa ->paper-thin joke that can be shredded with the .50 BMG installed on the starter SPAA very easily due to its insane RoF that also has no HE shells and a terrible mg that also has to be controlled separately because there is no AI for tanks->same deal but coaxial mg instead of a hull one->same deal but can float above water (wow, so useful) that is finally comparable to american second tank in terms of armament, only that, what a surprise, still no HE shells and still paper-thin and unlocked at lvl twenty-fucking-nine->the only good tank in the progression that is finally impenetrable to shitheads on half-tracks but you had to grind 32 levels just to get there) vs (godly SPAA effective at shredding infantry, light tanks and planes alike->MG bunker with HE shells as a bonus->uparmored previous tank so haha, suffer losers using 37mm cannons as I can still pen you just fine->same deal but with the flamethrower->open top grave that can eat even 75mm AP shells with the proper positioning nevertheless)

Hellcat or Corsair with Tiny Tims or HVARs pls

Simple, the Pacific was created because people asked for it.
