Why the mark enemy button is to unreliable (for the bots) and the changes it needs

The changes I believe there should be made:

  1. Better reaction from the bots when you mark enemys. I allways hear that marking enemys is also good for your bots, its supposed to allow them to see and focus fire the enemy you marked. To me, its just not working, at all. When I mark the enemy squad, my bots reaction time is too slow, they dont face to the direction I want them to face until its too late. And when they do, they take som much time deciding when to shoot. Most of the time they dont see the one guy I marked, rushing to us with an smg.
The bots should have a shorter reaction time, they should see and shoot the enemy that I have marked with little to no delay.

  2. The bots dont just face the general direction that I want them to face, if they are behind a cover or something that blockes thier view when I mark enemys, they will TRY to SEE who I want dead, and not just stare at the wall.

For example, when Im inside a building, shooting from the window and some of the bots are somewhere else (not seeing what I see), they would go and look at what I marked. Not just staying in some random room inside, trying to see through the wall when I mark.

  1. Unified reaction. It takes time for every single one of them to look att the place I marked. Usually when I mark, a small portion of them looks at it first. Later on the rest start to look. If they all looked at the same time, it would increase the probabilaty of them hitting a player or a bot.

  2. Priorities. Its simple any enemy that isnt close to the marked area should be ignored. For what reason? To increase the firepower.
Simple increase in accuracy of the bots aim could make the game unplayable, so how many kills a bot has should be dependent on your finese. How well you use them. Positioning is also very important but Im too tired to talk about them now. Maybe later, some other posts.

If you guys have any ideas on how to make the bots more usefull, please share.

How do I edit? I wrote shorter reaction time, I meant ‘‘faster’’

you have a pencil mark in the low right of the post

Anyone know where I can report a bug I got like 3 M1 Thompsons before I had them unlocked

it’s a known bug. you can unlock bazooka too. I wonder why they didnt fix it…especially since they just do bug fixes yesterday

Agree with all except unified reaction. If all you bots instantly turned to see your mark, it would look extremely artificial.
Turning one by one or in smal groups is more natural. Ideally, only half of your bots (rounded up) should face the direction you marked if they are already engaging the enemy.

Hate to sound antagonistic but bots will be bots. Can’t ever expect them to do smart things. Besides, think about what you’ll be experiencing when the bots do get better at concentrating firepower.

Sure, for the sake of balance all bots (yours and the enemy’s) will have the same capability. When you’re on the move to another location then an enemy player sees you, you become their target and because the bots are smarter your whole squad gets wiped.

This is an important point. And so bot behavior changes are mostly a matter of WHY and less about HOW. After all the AI squadmates is the feature that makes this game unique.

Imo it’s exactly how it should be.
You get spotted in the open → you get killed.
If you are in cover, their effectiveness would be much lower, or at least should be.

we hear you…

tried to propose a suggestion a while ago about this issue,

never saw the light though:

and it still somewhat an issue because the marker disappear and they stop watching that area,
i hope devs have something for it.

In which case I’d say that’s currently what we already experience in-game. Through that context, changing the AI behavior is not necessary.

I seriously doubt. You can run in the open as much as you want as long as you aren’t in front of the enemy. Most players have heavy tunelvision.

Why? It’s logical that if you point the enemy, your soldiers should focus on him, that’s how giving commands work.

I actually can’t agree more.

Let’s face it, it’s a matter of much refinement. Hopefully it’ll be ironed out in due time.

Thanks

I agree you should be able to tell your AI squad mates to attack the enemy or fortify a position they did make it so you can give individual orders though but is only for the basic orders.
