Why is it called AP-4C instead of F4U?

I did google it. I’m guessing it was the U.S. Army’s name for it or something but nothing came up.

If I remember correctly, a lot of US planes in game have alternate designations because the companies that made some of them still have copyright on the names of the planes, so the devs did it to avoid legal trouble with said companies.

For whatever reason, yes. Not really sure why though.
