It just seem weird that normal squads can’t build AT, MG or AA (except for engineer squads of course) but all premium squads with engineers can. Like, what is the reasoning behind it?

also engis on event squad can so its not exclusive to premiun ima assume that u already know that at squad engi can build at gun,mg squad engi,etc

Well this goes back a few years to when prem squads didn’t come with engies, and the whales complained, then most old squads where retro fitted with engies, and some werent 
If you have a prem assaulter squad with engies, you can build, but i if i stick a engie, with a TT assaulter squad, i don’t get to build, any of the above, very silly.

You only now realised this? You can’t know it for years. But if talk about reason… there is no, it’s just because. I guess it’s started with mg13-75 and lewis squads.
I knew about it. But I never bothered to ask.
