You have to level up a completely separate unit just to upgrade the new “event” one
the same thing didn’t happen to me with the Italian unit in the Axis campaign, and I don’t even have the machine gunner squad it originates from maxed out either.
You have to level up a completely separate unit just to upgrade the new “event” one
If I need to level up a different unit to play with the event unit, then I’ll play with the unit in question that I need to level up.
Why would I want an event unit that I can’t max out and isn’t distinctive?
It’s like nobody read the news post…
News or not, it’s ridiculous. You present a unit as a complete and independent “event,” and then you present a complete unit that depends on another… Does that make sense?
It’s unbelievable how you throw around the comment “it seems you didn’t read the news” as if that justifies what a garbage event this is…
Event is fine. If gives you exactly what it says it will, and something tons of people have been wanting for ages. Maybe you don’t like it, and that’s fine. I don’t give a crap about BR5 jets I’ll never play, for instance, but I don’t post about “this jet sucks because I don’t play br5! Where’s the thing ‘I’ want?!”
This stopped being about the event itself (which, yes, I dislike). It’s about the fact of delivering a ‘complete and independent’ unit, only for it to actually depend on another one. You can’t even level up the soldiers unless you max out a completely different squad.
So why would I, or anyone else, want a unit where we can’t unlock perks because it’s locked behind a completely different squad? Don’t you realize that if I have to max out that other squad, I might as well just play with that one? Why would I go through the trouble of grinding an entire squad from scratch (with how annoying squad leveling is) just to be able to use a different one?
for different loadouts.
Also i enjoy leveling things. And also anyone playing more than 6 months has probably already upgraded the other squad. I guess they could make them share leveling, but it’s probably difficult to do retroactively requiring modifying the existing TT squads.
I just don’t get the bug up lots of peoples’ @sses about these squads. They are “alternative” squads. A cosmetic alternative to an already available squad. If you have leveled the original squad, you now have an alternative version of it. It’s a really simple concept, and not everyone has to like it.
I enjoy grinding’ is not a game design argument, it’s just your personal preference. And assuming everyone has every single squad maxed out just because they played for 6 months is completely out of touch with the casual player base.
Also, if they are meant to be ‘purely cosmetic alternatives’ as you say, then they should be skins for the existing squad, not a separate unit that physically locks gameplay progression and soldier perks behind a different tech tree.
If a developer can code an entire MMO, making a unit share leveling or be truly independent isn’t ‘too difficult retroactively’—it’s just a lazy design choice. It’s a simple concept, indeed, but a poorly executed one.
You don’t need a whole separate, locked squad just for ‘different loadouts’ when equipment presets and basic inventory management exist. That’s a massive stretch to justify this.
Ok.
