I get the floatplanes are rubbish, the ordenance on the planes in general is rubbish, but new planes to dogfight in, c’mon guys…
I know the carrier is not that easy (alot of flyers I see with undercarriage still down), the rearm point is too far, but there’s a Hellcat and a Zero, I am end game and with this campaign pretty much fly, so not to rush it too quickly…
What are you (pilots only) opinions, I’m sure you love to fly as I do, why not here?
I think gaijin wanted to try to respond to the ‘bomb spam’ that is extremely prevalent in Normandy and they did that surprisingly well. But, sadly at the cost of nerf-ing planes to the ground until they became nothing more than glorified metal-birds with bird poo as bombs
Dev’s made flying ineffective, referring to the SD. It takes way too much time to rearm. Taking off from the Carrier suddenly became more difficult than necessary. The SD is too slow and goes like a slug, too much time to the target. Pacific Maps make it much harder for bombing than other Campaigns.
pilots are a rare type of playerbase in general, its just that most players cant pull it off and dont like it in general, was the same in the old battlefield games.
Yet… still they castrated bombs overall and added shitload of fighters without proper CAS armament as fillers in tech trees…
It’s only effective to fly in Normandy and in Berlin, change my mind…
They nerfed bombs to the ground just to preserve those fcking medium bombers and P-47s in the game, those planes shouldn’t be there from the start…
fighter planes completely without bombs are completely useless, just like tank hunters with no HE shells or no MG.
Vehicles are support of your infantry, sure there can be tradeoffs, but completely lacking the ability to support your infantry makes you a pretty pathetic infantry support right?
Airplanes are low impact in that campaign and it takes too long to reach anything even remotely worth flying in (especially for Japan).
Casual pilots get quickly demotivated and either leave or avoid airplanes, dedicated pilots are more likely to prefer other campaigns. That’s what it comes down to, I think.
hello there! I am flying with pleasure in all campaigns, especially Tunisia and Normandy. I am not an ace but I fly quite well with all types of planes. I was long awaiting the Pacific to fly with reisen shiden and others, awa hellcat and corsair. but after a month playing I am very disappointed. no problem with buffalo or dauntless but the a5m is worse than broken.
No bomb, shitty mg but worst of all this plane is unflyable.as soon as I reach 290 kmh the plane goes down. I don’t know if I m the only one but it’s pretty unbearable.
Speaking from more… Moscow campaign-orienteed equipment, thanks to custom battles allowing me to take a look:
I’d say one of the bigger obstacles is the forced starting on the aircraft carrier - with BF110, you can’t even take off without crashing (or, at least, I didn’t manage to pull it off)!
As for BF109 - well, I had some success bombing stuff sometimes.
It is a fairly long way from rearm point - I think after… 4? 6? Bombing runs, my plane’s engine components started showing signs of overheating. Forcing me to drop the throttle to ~88%, which slowed down the rearm process even further.
Not a plane-friendly environment, basically.
