I’m in BRI-II and this has happened a few times now where I just get one shot by some random tank. Other guy has a 45mm 20-K cannon. I’m running a Pz.III J. I’m assuming the other guy was in something between a T-26 and T-50. They also have APHEBC shells. I’m just trying to look at the stats and understand how this happens. Is my tank shit? Do Germans need to rank up before they really get better tanks?
axis tanks get good in br4-5. before that, they’re really meh. squishy lil things.
But, still better than the things Japan got I suppose…

Getting 1-shotted once doesn’t make your tank bad - the Pz-3J is a good tank.

Oh I love it, believe me. Just feeling like I’m a little outmatched at times, which is okay. I feel pretty good about handling infantry, light tanks, and studebakers, but I guess dueling tanks is pushing it. Just want to know what I could do better. Maybe I over extended myself. I try to pay attention to the kill feed at times to see what competition is out there, another match today I saw a 75mm pop up on the enemies side so I was on high alert! Watched a Justin Taylor video on tank combat earlier and he had some good points. Basically don’t be seen, don’t let them get an aim on you, and keep at least one terrain feature between you and your enemy. I love sitting back and running down infantry.
I hear you. Are my chances any better facing the Allies?
BR2 German tanks are either good at fighting tanks or at slinging HE. A few are OK at tanks and great at HE.
III J1 and Puma are good for AT. IV E and F1 (?) are crazy for HE and HEAT slinging (can deal with tanks). This seems about as good as any tank lineup as any nation at BR2. T28E might be better but it’s not a game changing difference.

Until br3. in br3, there’s the Sherman, with sweet powerful shells. I’d argue it’s even better than the popov KV1.
prior to that, br1 & 2 are quite nice vs allies, and vice versa.

If you are talking about tank on tank
Not so much about your tank, more the ammunition. Warthunder and Enlisted Heavily Favor APHE. (the more TNT filler the better). At a certain thresh hold of TNT, if it penetrates, it will gut your tank completely.
the 45mm has about the same HE filler as your 50mm (USSR like to pack in excessive HE filler). Will probably take a few shots/
Shells just get nastier the higher you go. BR 2 76mm and 75mm/short AT shells might aswell be nuke rounds if they penetrate
Basically comes down to who penetrates/shoots first
That will be pretty much the way of it Until you get Tigers and Panthers…can shrug off some hits (not get penetrated)

German BR2 howitzers tanks are the best BR2 tanks, as they are the most versatile. They are even better than the T-28E (probably the most overrated BR2 tank).
Then on higher BRs it only gets worse. Your armor will still be completely irrelevant against infantry, you’re just going to be less agile. And your rate of fire will be greatly reduced.

panzer 4e is so underrated. I find it more useful than panzer 4h in some situations due to the high rate of fire

Bro idk what you’re talking about? The Panzer III J imo is the best BR I tank! Good armor, good gun, good mobility! It’s an awesome tank!

Think it depends on tanks… 38t in BR1 is good, Pz3nN, Pz4e, Pz H, Stalingrad G and Pz M also good!, depends on what you face to effectiveness imho
German tanks usually have crazy good guns (long 50mm in BR2, short 75mm in BR2-3, long 75 in BR3, longer 75 in BR4, short 88 and long 88 in BR4-5) however they also have mediocre armor.
But tbf most tank until BR3 have mediocre armor.
