First three tanks of japanese have no hope to compete with muricans but the lightest murican tank is still stronger than japanese ones. They at least have high anti infantry capacity compared to first japanese tanks.
So for first 2 tiers which japanese tanks can go toe to toe with us light tanks ?
So… I have to say that after the my first battles as the Japanese, when Americans completely halted any advance with the firepower of Calliope and another 75mm Sherman at the first point and all Japanese armored vehicles have become mere means to gain free points… I have a feeling that the Japanese will suffer in agony after the Merge.
The Calliope and most sherman variants are at tier 4. I’m guessing you didn’t run into any Ho-Nis, the Japanese equivalent vehicle?
That’s right, I have the Japanese campaign maxed out, reaching tier 4, but I haven’t obtained any new Japanese tanks. And I haven’t seen any other Ho-Ni or Chi-Nu either; theoretically, people will acquire them after the merge, so the battlefield might look different, but I’m not sure. For now, it seems like the Americans have a quite significant advantage.
Forget about the Americans, apparently now the British can end up on the Pacific lol, yesterday I was playing in the Test Server and there was 2 A13 Mk.II camping a rally point but I think they didn’t expect to be decimated by an AT gun(Type 97), and I recall seeing a Churchill tank in the kill feed, it does feel weird seeing the British, specially the paras, I didn’t try Tier 4 but I feel that as long as we have a competent team and the respective Tier 4 equipment it will be fine for now, the thing is that if no one tries to get rid of the tanks then the team will loose plain and simple, and Type 97 20mm can pen the Sherman side and the ammo placement of the Sherman is pretty obvious
Kinda weird, after all the Japanese were famous for having very strong and heavily armored tanks in real life.
Certainly, if the game is meant to be true to history, Japanese players would predominantly use the Arasaka rifle. But then, who would find that enjoyable, so?
75mm Ho-NI I can kill Shermans with no issue and Calliope is even easier to kill just aim at the rocket pods just imagine it as a very tall and explosive xp piniata. Jumbo on other hand is really tricky to destroy you need to flank or be at higher elevation (so paras will be super useful) or as usual spam bombs which gets old pretty quick.
I’m just being sarcastic. Japan needs prototypes to even exist in this game, since the factors that made Japan a fearsome enemy aren’t replicated in this game.
They’ll mostly be fine in terms of armor. Like everybody else is saying, the M4A2 isn’t super OP, and just shoot the rocket rack on the calliope. The Jumbo will be a wild card, we’ll just have to wait and see how that actually plays out.
Low BR japan might be fine as the Ho-I still slapps light armor and infantry quiet nicely.
And again the premium tanks still continue to carry the japanese tankforces.
The Chi nu being BR 4 makes no sence at all as it is worse than its closes comparision the F2 (BR 3)
Only about 100mm on pen instead of 135mm
Worse armor with 50 mm max (the G gets up to 100mm of armor for the same BR)
Bad turret traverse
No coax or HEAT so you will be using HE to kill infantry in your downtime → Gets caught unprepared by enemy tanks while HE is loaded → Dies
If you lose it you cant just pick another Chi nu like the americans can so it can be overrun quickly
BR 4 will most likely be a ghost town but BR 1 and 2 might thrive after the merge.
The worst part about this will be the fact that if a BR in japan suffers it will cause an exodus of the playerbase and nobody will join it but the US player can never run out of players as most of them would be trying to fight germany instead and just end up in the pacific regarless of if they wanted it or not.
