I’d say its to bring attention to the new campaign however it appears to be bringing the wrong attention. Its a paid campaign so those who bought it are undoubtedly better off, the German player base is stronger causing steam rolls for one side and its only been out what? Two weeks? Hope everyone was ready!
No it doesn’t make alot of sense from my point of view
Short answer
NO!
Long answer
In other games with a competitive multipleyer, these types of events are accompanied by exclusive rewards (such as weapons and special currency) that make players compete with each other without restrictions except the level of the player that makes it possible or not to participate against other players, and in the end a hall of fame of the aforementioned game is created through the results of the event, but in Enlisted,The answer is NO! does not make sense this type of event, given the absence of the aforementioned rewards and the time block of the event wo half the already less playerbase wo can play it.
Honestly, I simply dislike the idea of an event locked to one campaign.
Not saying warthunder event are good, but they’re definitely better than this crap. Even the damn crafting events.
Sad thing is, they are actually better than whatever this garbage is meant to be.
At least in wt, you can do them to some degree. From the current one, I’m gonna get a free rank 1 premium. From the current Enlisted event, I’m not gonna get anything cause it’s locked to a campaign i do not care about.
I think dev is just promoting the full access pack in another way…
Also, beside lack of skill base matchmaking.
I am astonished to know that event still keep the group functions…
I know lots of my friends/chatgroup members group together just because of group is so powerful to fight/win. Like Dead by Daylight, group is some kind of “cancer”. A grouped 4 players is much more powerful than probably 8 random team members…
Also, this game’s attacking team’s tickets cost…
The more players left the match, the higher cost to respawn remaining players.
In regular match, there will be bots to compensate DCs. But event match force pure humans…
So if one side has 5 quitters… Each respawn will cost 25 instead of what should be 12.5.
However, I am OK with event. If they use this to improve their match making/balance data. Still E-sport is a big no no for this game.
Events are required. I support any interesting initiative from game developers (no matter what the game) because it shows, in one way or another, that the game hasn’t been developed, launched on a market stuffed with microtransactions and forgotten forever.
BUT - events just for sake of events? No, it’s just a waste of resources.
I will say frankly - events must be endlessly rewarding. I would be attracted to such an event precisely because of the rewards, because in that way we would try to get them in order to pay for our time. Name it: gold packs, monthly premium, gold orders, exclusive weapon skins, squads ect.(like they did in fiery events), but they are very afraid to share such great gifts for players, so the event becomes gray and pointless to sacrifice our time.
The other thing is that it would be infinitely cool if such events happened every month. It would become a tradition for the whole community to wait, prepare and test for different loadouts, armament, weapons and the like. Everyone would be hyped as hell. But all this randomness, it will be interesting for someone, but someone will not even notice, because there is not even any hype building effect they should do in social media.
Its always the same players on top of the event board since they got all the stuff and (no life-ing the campaign) i did see relay fast that i had to switch to German team to win, and not getting STG-41 spammed at spawn.
Man this even is rigged to the bone, cheating is supper appealing now and that only to keep yourself in the top 10% to get the permanent name tag decal instead of the timely 60d ones.
Competitive events only expose this game’s shortcomings, the same way solo fighters mode does. I think it ultimately comes down to most interactions (of any kind) with other players being negative rather than positive or even neutral. That’s one hell of a problem for an online PvP game to have.
Im sorry but going thru this thread just makes me shake my head at the points being made.
If I wasn’t at work using mobile I would be quoting many arguments and contesting them because they are missing the mark, straight up wrong or misunderstood.
What ever campaign what ever side. I always try to climb on the leaderbords as much I can.
Also, for the guy that stated teaming up with others and do squads to enter the event, it’s a huge mistake on this particular event.
One thing I m certain, timezone the event its kinda dull, I rather see the events with a certain batles per day alowed. But either way, it shows that there is enough playerbase to fill events and campaigns with games.
Maybe, just maybe, there is a huge playerbase, mostly bad players but it’s there.
Fun fact is that everyone says they not participate,
Yet the leader board is full and even some got spotted/busted standing in the top 25, while they were the once complaining and said they did not like nor play it.
They have a name for those kind of people “hypocrites”!
well, with all respect i don’t really care about hypocrites.
they can do whatever they want.
but the problem is, the question above still remain unanswered.
and “recently” finding out that people cheated out to reach certain positions on the leaderboard with just medics should ring some bells.
like, what’s the point of making competitive events when the campaign has been barely tested resulting in those incidents?
are really that needed those competitive events to a point of being the first event of every new campaign just introduced?
especially on stalingrad where there’s quite a huge gap between players of levels and ownership?
( referring to dlc owners and free to play players )
like, playing free to play stalingrad i find it insane. but it’s people choice.
but at least give them 3/4 months to prepare?
no?
anything at all?
have people in the team gone crazy/mad?
they all just gaved up?
but well… i’m just repeating my self at this point.
and yet, still no one have a good argument or explanation about those events.
i suppose mr chicky doodles disagrees, which it’s fine i guess.
but still hasn’t explained anything? or gaved a different insight?
so… yeah, not to sound a jerk, but that doesn’t mean much to me.
same as shivex, although he made more sense. he likes it. he likes being on a leaderboard.
but i’m afraid that’s not good enough for me.
Events doesn’t make sense,
And cheating is with all those events i can tell i play them.
And sure , like i do not care that you do not care, but i never did say i care about hypocrites, only pointed it out since they have never a good argument or explanation about those events and why they complain about it.
its the same as modern assault or unknown wars or what ever the event they bring on.
some people want them, only play them and crave for the next one.
i dont like them. but neither i go my way to bash them for the ones that want that experience.
i dont care much about the reasons why events like unknown wars should or shouldnt exist, if theres a playerbase playing them and wanting them, there is a market, and if they improve them as they go, i dont care if they are “bad” right now, baby steps.
but imo leaderbord events, they are here mostly for player engagement on said events, data to improve them for the next one and the next after it. to fill some old requests of “can we have competitive matches”, to fill our “future” profiles with more acchivements, to actually have (hopefully one day ) a good competitive system. and so on…
i still like them, i enjoy them alot, mainly for the reason i like to always have a good placement on them, to be better. and imo, they should keep doing them, and improve them as the game dev. goes
baby steps.
there is space for every type of event, reward, game mode or what ever to fill every single possible wish.
i respect players that enjoyed modern event and unknown wars for example and their need to have more, please, can we the ones that want some leaderbord events have them too?
i mean, it does change nothing for the normal queue, it doesnt change none of the matches if you play the game as is , whats the big deal?
they are good right now? No.
have they improved since first try in tunisia? alot
Still need to improve ? ALOT
Will be there one day ? Dont know but hopefully yes.
will they afect the gameplay for the ones that dont like them? not at all. they can simply avoid them and keep playing as is. like i/others did on modern/unknown wars after few matches.
is there playerbase for them ? yes.
so why shouldnt they exist?
“because enlisted is a casual game etc etc?”
if one day it does work, somehow , enlisted looses nothing as a game.
only wins.
casual players can keep playing normal matches, and players that want to fight for a position on a leaderbord/rank/reward, can still do it and doesnt afect none. the game only gains a extra selling point.
if, it works by then.
. baby steps.
the game was arguably way worst 2 years ago on first alpha . it already come along way. i can play as many as they bring and let them fix them and improve them for a better one tomorow.
i can read it multiple ways, but i find it “your way of play works in this event/game” the best way to describe your sentence. not sure what you want to point out with that.
but i understand its more imersive to play with bolt actions as if it was a true ww2 batle… sadly isnt something i care to do when i play enlisted.
i don’t know how you can compare the modern or unknown wars events to this one.
because the previous non classified events are something somewhat neat that adds something different.
and both of them were not rigged.
( unlike the comp ones ).
because they gaved you equipment and everyone had roughly the same stuff.
actual unique content.
competitive events mostly relays on YOUR equipment.
therefore making unfunctionals and not so very balanced matches.
are also those events really needed?
dunno.
i think they have served their purpose.
gather feedbacks while give some hints.
unlike the competitive ones where it creates more toxity, and unfairness.
i somewhat get your point. but i don’t think competitive events and random events can be compared.
right.
can’t say much here as it is true.
but somewhat makes me wonder at the same time why.
devs were the first ones not including esports and competitive stuff because it wasn’t a priority then, i don’t see why it should be know.
and i quote:
you came with this " baby steps " alot.
and also here, i can’t say much beside…
why not taking those small steps back, and put them in more needed fixes?
just to name a few, vehicles to begin with. mostly airplanes and tanks.
where damage is far from being ideal. AI pathfinding, Soldiers stuck in the floors etc.
missing features for others campaign or missing features to begin with.
such as shovels for all campaigns, movable at for all campaign, but where is the third AI command stance promised ( Blog development N_1 )?
and the list could go on and on.
fine i guess.
( even though this game was not supposed to ).
but are you planning to make comps on a buggy game?
i wonder why mgs were rare on stalingrad during the comp event.
oh yeah, bipods were fucked.
yeah. sucks to be you getting your lovely placement screwed up by console players that they can disable the cross play off and others using exploits with medics.
maybe, we can make use of:
and literally not start an competitive event when every time a campaing has just been released.
so we can polish the campaigns and have a stable ground for an event.
is it asking too much?
this, makes me believe more that you do stuff for your own pleasure instead of actually make everyone happy and have a game more stabilized.
having scorebords or leaderbords literally helps no one.
does not contribute the game to improve or help it in any way.
i’m sure we all have our trinkets to look after. but i don’t think the beta it’s the time for it.
well it does.
drives away people from the normal matches, and in stalingrad and tunisia case, they both end up with having one faction bigger than the other. and it creates unbalances.
so for experience speaking, it does.
well, if random dudes were saying that, i wouldn’t have minded.
but devs first said that.
we can’t even account them for their own words?
what’s next ?
excusing such behavior in companies leads to no good paths.
sorry, but i failed to see how it will bring more people.
because, sure, there are people that love competity stuff. but it’s better if gets mitigated in casual matches. avoiding to split the playerbase.
because despite devs them selves say that enlisted has a huge playerbase, i find that hard to believe and we both know it.
so, competitive events?
maybe?
but definitely not now. not with the current state of the game, and even less with “small” playerbase.
perhaps i could have explained better.
no insults intended of course.
what i meant is, you playing competitive or random matches makes no difference.
because your play style doesn’t change much between the twos.
i agree, i dont know why its like this in literaly every game dev ever…
didnt suck, . got a nice and fair placement overall for the total matches/days i played. i just played fully 4 days tbh. then i didnt had time to even boot the game so was more than good to end 20
just to point out, besides everything you said.
they didnt need to disable cross play. were diferent servers for the same leaderbord.
xbox and ps users played against xbox and ps users and PC players against pc players.
the only way to play on same lobbys were to queue with a console player as a pc user or vice versa.
we pointed that out on feedback that isnt a proper move to do for future ones.
i play for me, my own fun.
i give feedback for the greater good of the game, for everyone. do we agree with every feedback or wish everyplayer type? no.
the number of “bad/new/goofing around” players everymatch keeps suprising me.
game is way bigger than what most of forum users “suspect” it is. the average skill level its just too low judging by most of active player base.
theres always players avaiable , the issue lays on the matchmaker (lack of it/player destribution per match at same time etc etc) and players that leave after the first min.
