could be the case, looks like the rifle was not impregnated and is just raw wood (as it came off the assembly line) much like the K98K Kreigsmodel.
Yeah its cheaper and wont last very long ( a few years) but neither will the war at this point so its all good.

AG-2 is cool and all, but it still feels like a very lazy addition to the game, I definitely wont buy this squad.
Could have added ZK-381 instead, a Czech semi-auto rifle which was tested by Soviets before adapting their own domestic rifle.

Theyre using the SVT-40 rifle copy paste in this case to lock the buildable AG automatic grenade launcher to BR4. aka AG stands for AG-2 buildable. Thats it, otherwise its a lazy copy.
As ive mentioned it repeatedly, the only way to buff this squad now (since its so close to release) is to rename the rifle AVT-40 (10rd) and give it a secondary auto capability like the FG42 used to have. No rifle model change, no unit pic change needed.
The AG itself is extremely situational, extremely long to build and cant be reloaded.
Only changes in 2nd beta is addition of ammo counter and slightly better performance on single fire.
They obviously dont play BR4 cause you would know that it DOESNT EXIST AS A TIER (its ALL BR5 uptiers) and SVT40 in BR5 might as well be a BR1 boltie.
We need +/-0 matchmaking for this squad to make sense. A new squad with a buildable special weapon should be a cause for celebration, not a complaint wall from low effort and not understanding your game.

There is no such thing as a “SVT-40 (AG)” as some variant of the SVT - the designation in the game just means it is the one used by the SVT-40’s used by the AG-2 squad - I hae no idea why - perhaps so that they can’t just be swapped out for other weapons and the SVT’s used somewhere better??
As a matter of interest the AG-2 grenade launcher was so poorly received that it main designer was arrested and shot in 1941 for designing poor weapons (specifically 23mm canon and 12.7mm mg, but likely influenced by AG-2 too), less than a year after receiving an award as Hero of the Soviet Union!
