Hey guys I play support often and I wonder if ever it is helpful or even wanted when I only get a few kills per game as Radio Man, Tank, or Sniper, over just rushing the point with assaulters, and if so what are the most useful ones and do you have any tips to help them be more useful?
I wish there would be more people like you. People who build spawnpoints really often as an engeneer are warmly welcomed by every veteran player
Engineer and rally points. I guess the best thing you can do to help your team. Maybe also barbwire and tank traps to block the objective.
Outside of that, good smoke artylery, CAS to kill pesky tanks (especially those camping out of playable area) and that’s it I guess.
Sadly the game doesn’t promote much things other than run&gun with SMG at the point. But it’s changing judging by recent xp increase for engineers.
Engineers are the best support ever my friend. The rallies literally win battles and after that they have the same rifle as normal infantry. Besides them the use is pretty limited but Ive had great success as a close quarters sniper using semi autos very aggressively. The key here, I think, is to be aggressive with which ever class you choose and help push points.
The radio squad is also incredibly powerful. Dropping smoke can help everyone advance and a well timed artillery drop can wipe out several sqauds
Assaulters and automatics rule the day when all is said and done
I mean all support troops are rly good if you learn them by heart.
Mortar teams if you have an good setup, understanding of the map but also good team that actively mark for you will do wonder for both you and your team which comes in to my favorites…
Snipers which constantly feeds the team with intel but also protects them from a far and those i usually prep with AT and Radioman depending on setup, i can get alot of points with only those an whole game…
Radiomen who constantly can kill with artillery and if you have an MG set up covering as you bombard them accurately since you have better eyes on the battlefield from a distance you will rack up kills and points as well as supports the team rly well
Engineers are also rly good as mentioned since you have tools of all trades to your disposal for sure
Would have said MG squads here to but since i like my MG with an team of radiomen with 1min effect behind that a bit more it comes bit longer down the list for me How ever you have more MGs at your disposal if one dies though and MGs are just killing machines if set up right but also in assault
It all comes down to what youre good at and feel most comfortable with to…If you like assaulting and its your thing then just continue with it. But if you like to specialize in other things you will find out on the way if you keep at them
And almost forgot about the lovely AT squads which is one of my fav to says pretty much what they do and killing tanks is pretty lucrative as well as its thankful for your team
The best tip i can give you if its points youre after being support is to support your team either from the cap point or killing targets at the cap both if youre defending or attacking
I have an engineer in almost every squad for a reason. Rally points can make or break a game and they get you a ton of points for just a little thoughtfulness. Ammo boxes are a massive help to the guys running LMGs. And if you’re on defense, barbed wire and sandbags can help your guys hold a position much longer. Support is great stuff.
If you’re sniping, be sure to mark enemy tanks and clusters of troops. Radioman should get a ton of kills, have you gotten the unlock that gives you an artillery strike every minute?
Engineers and rally points - all of my squads that can have an engineer as the first soldier, so my default spawn in an engineer and I can get straight to building rally points and ammo. Sandbag walls are great for protecting your troops from small arms fire in almost all circumstance, and especially for protecting spawn points (but don’t block off entrances or totally surround a rally with them - leave gaps, stagger the sandbags to there’s gaps between them or bots get stuck!!)
Even in the open I’ll create a wall of staggered sandbags to protect my side from small arms. Sure they’ll eventually get destroyed - but they can be useful until then and you’ll see fairly common “+5 points” scores when someone gets some cover from them.
Wire and tank obstacles are situational.
To support my team:
I have an engineer mostly all of my squads so you should too place good rally points and flanks. As every player is only allowed to have 1 active spawn point at the time it really is important that at least 2 people in the team build rallypoints straight up and 1x guy at least should pave the way for flanking operations.
I usually build 1 AA and 1 AT (stationary guns) which sometimes have a huge impact and sometimes they have none However a well placed AA could help your team to get rid of nasty (good) bomber pilots. Place it behind the front line in good cover. If players spot and mark your AA everybody in the enemy team seems to get a crush on it and wants to penetrate its armor instantly.
I call in Artillery strikes in front of or at the objective depending of the situation and location. Most people seem to bomb the bzulding the objective is in. This however doesn’t work out well in most scenarios.
I always mark enemy tanks instead of gooing for the kill at all costs. A nice assist and a living squad is much more worth to my team most of the times. However I still love running towards the tanks too much to play wisely all the time
I try to give suppressive fire when I’m in a tank and/or shoot at the incoming infantry that is gooing for the objective. I feel a lack of support for tanks. If you really want to give support to your team stay behind your teammates tanks and take out the crazy yankees and ivans ans hanses that try to flank the tank or want to creep up to it from behind with a det pack in their bloody hands.
However I have never called in smoke artillery. This is so damn useful - People (including me :-D) should use this tactical ingredient much more often.
I lack off good positioning for tank obstacles and I’m giving bad air support. By trying to hit the enemy with my bombs my planes crash very often.
You could give me flight lessons. You would support hundreds of teams I play in by dooing so
Yeah and barb wire… I love it. Like many others have mentioned fortifying an objective or hindering enemies to get to your own teams spawn points is a nice supportive action and welcome mostly all of the time.
Just don’t surround your own teams rally point
Engineers with Rally Points and Ammo Boxes.
Arty squads that know how to use smoke.
Rally points, ammo, fortitifications e.g. blocking doors forcing the enemy to invade man after man, arty strikes blocking the enemy while capturing points, smoke screens when attacking over open terrain and MARKERS (tanks, guns, enemy spawn, etc. - especially snipers can see a lot and can provide essential intel - do recon stuff as recon squad^^).
Btw: keep up the support, much appreciated.
Also don’t discount wire and sandbags on a cap point if you’ve done all the really obvious stuff (spawns & ammo) - they can slow down enemy a lot, and you can also get surprisingly good score from them at +5 every time enemy trips on wire or friends shoot from behind a sandbag
