Axe, absolutely.

Kick ass and chew bubble gum. And also run really fast screaming at your enemy.

I’m saying shovels, while yes, axes are very good in melee, shovels can dig trenches and foxs hole, as well as being able to kill infantry in melee, not as good as axes or swords.

Trench club (the german one). Can charge, has the fastest attack speed and oneshots any target. It also looks very cool

When I have a sword, I use that, otherwise these are my go to melee weapons. I don’t play a ton of Japan, but they use swords and Tanto knives.
