I want my B-25 pilots to be pilots in the air, but Commando’s on the ground. 
Yeah, I’m sure changing their clothes wouldn’t create a problem before they bale out.

You need to upgrade that to this! My Tier 3 pilot farm. They are ridiculous on the ground and in the air.

Now I want to spam bombers as makeshift paratroopers. How effective are they in reality?

I find them very effective. It’s nice to have a plane that you can score bombing kills with, and once shot down can have a seven man assaulter crew as well (providing none of them die in the shoot down). Mine all carry the 50 round Thompsons. Two squads on one ticket. My first was my Germans which had a five man squad.

Yeah, mine are on the budget BR4 Thompsons at the moment, but at some point they will be sporting the same as yours. 
Very. I can play the squad for 10-15 minutes by the time the last guy dies. I usually hit the ground with at least 6 guys (6 of 7 are built for combat not piloting). 7 guys with the top US assault weapon, explosives, mines, axes and a back up Thompson do some real damage. Look at that picture the only thing they do not have is Health perk. But 7 x 50 round Thompsons means the AI will at least be able to defend itself.
