Why do you need shovels?

For No 2’s, hehe, couldn’t help myself :stuck_out_tongue:

normandy beach… allies side… nuff said…

That devblog says nothing about shovels in other campaigns. It is all about bomb craters. Just relax and be patient.

Introducing shovel to the campaigns other than Tunesia will probably bring a lot of bugs because of the terrain differences. Normandy is not a desert, There is much more objects that could cause potential problems when digging.

normandy landing is a fucking beach though and what is on the ground of a beach??? that’s right “Sand”… and objects never cause problems when digging because if you ever tried the shovel you would know you cant dig the ground where an object is located… you end up with more problems from the new aerial bombing mechanic because it makes holes under trees while the trees stay standing on thin air…

How is a hole helping if Obi Wan ehm Germans have the high ground (also you have to reach the point where you want to dig)?
The smoke arty option for the radio is far more helpful than the shovel, which isn’t used in Africa anyway.

holes help make trenches when you dig them 3 wide… you can then use them to avoid the MG’s and tank shelling… they also save you from artillery strikes if your lucky enough to not get a direct hit in the trench they essentially double the height of sandbags allowing you to create foxholes with radio beacons… their usefulness is abundant… and in other campaigns, namely normandy they would be most effective because in normandy you have large buildings that would actually benefit from digging trenches around a lot more then say tunisia’s points where enemies almost always have a height advantage on very close buildings… like even though iv found a way to make the shovels very useful in tunisia the usage in that campaign is limited to a single map on a single objective… that one with the flower fields right beside the point… regardless of if your the attacker or defender if you get a foxhole beacon in that field of flowers you own that point…

like iv even had 1000lb bombs go off like 10m from me but because i was in a trench laying down i survived… lol though with the new bombs kill the ground mechanic i wonder if the bomb would kill you now given the fact that it would flatten the trench wall protecting you
