What happened to custom games?

Before, it was possible to select any army against any team in any battle.
For example, I could select funny things like my allied army (now USA) to fight against the Japanese army in Tunisia.
But that doesnt work anymore.
I just get the armies of the battle location that belong there.
But it got weirder even, I just made a custom battle, USA team A against Japan team B fighting in the Quarry map in Russia.
Guess what? My team A was all Russian except for my USA squads that I had selected.
The enemy was german, not japanese as I had selected.

Also: one screen before, main settings, I can select 1 of 6 campaigns but that doesnt seem to effect anything that I notice.

That is odd.
I wonder if its a bug or intentional.

customs have been broken since the first test of the merge.

the real question is, what is the selection of campaign in the main settings is even supposed to do?

like, those do not work.

i cannot force a campaign, the armies i select reacts more on the base map than anything so…

i have no idea.

but as usual, customs went unchanged and forgotten.
