Weapon collision models

In order to give benefit to the G33/40, M38 Mosin, and other smaller rifles that might get outshined by the extra DMG/muzzle velocity of their longer counterparts, I’d suggest potentially adding collision models to the rifles.

I believe games like Tarkov and Arma have this implemented. If you are navigating the threshold of a doorway or another urban setting with a weapon that is too long you will lower or raise the weapon in order to negotiate the obstacle as you would in real life.

This would also be a slight nerf to the MG30 or other full-blown machine guns as navigating a small European cottage while hip firing the weapon would be harder to do.

Intent is to clearly delineate task and purpose for the different weapons available in the Table of Equipment for each country and emphasize their unique identities. This would hopefully help use further depart from a linear meta of “what has the most damage output”.

Some weapon lengths have been provided below.

Machine Guns
MG30: 45.7"
MG15: 42.4"
ChautChaut: 45"
Madsen: 45"

Rifles
MN91/30: 48.5"
MN1938: 40"
G33/40: 39"

Fighting effectively in combined spaces has been an obstacle for militaries since the dawn of organized fighting. From the Iberian Spatha to the Close Quarters Battle Receiver, armies have commissioned, improvised, and adopted equipment and ideas to make navigating and fighting inside bunkers, houses, and trenches easier for their troops.

I can’t even remember what my suggestion for those was a while back, but that would be a big improvement.

On the topic of indoor weapons as well, adding back blast to rockets would make it balanced to add the bazooka and panzerfaust to go with the PIAT and Sturmpistole, as the former can’t be safely fired indoors while the latter can.

I’d love the idea of adding backblast. Again, I think it’s a great balancing effected to asymmetric weapons.

One can be fired in doors, the other can not. etc.

The PIAT, very specifically, had a lot of unique characteristics which made it a very memorable AT weapon. IIRC it’s not the most effective at penetrating armor but it had a lot of interesting strengths to include lack of firing signature, parabolic arc and no backblast.
