Weapon collision is a mechanism that some FPS game have. This feature is clearly demonstrated at the beginning of this video.
There is already a similar mechanism in the game:
But it’s not accurate yet. From my observation, Enlisted seems to trigger this mechanism only when the character’s hand collides.
The end goal should be to have the entire weapon have a hitbox, i.e. we won’t see that black part of the weapon buried in the wall.
and other entities, such as other characters and vehicles should also participate the collision.
In terms of gameplay, this will make the length of the weapon an important factor in narrow terrain combat and give melee weapons an advantage at extremely short ranges.
I wonder have you ever played “ready or not”, a counter-terrorism themed CQB FPS. In that game, weapon collision is always triggered, which is really bad for gameplay, because your rifle got blocked and can;'t shoot when you get face-to-face to an enemy.
I believe that such thing should not happen to Enlisted. It’s pointless to sacrifice gameplay experience for some “realistic” stuff.
