Hey everyone,Since the early tiers can sometimes feel a bit repetitive, I feel like the Italian tech tree really needs some unique identity in the low Battle Ratings. The solution is already right under our noses, especially since Gaijin already has the 3D models ready in War Thunder: I’m talking about the iconic L3/33 and L3/35 tankettes.
Adding them to BR 1 wouldn’t just be historically accurate, it would completely change the way early-game matches are played. Imagine being able to unlock three awesome variants:
Standard L3/33: Armed with twin 8mm Breda 38 machine guns. A pure infantry shredder to lock down open areas. Standing at just 1.3 meters tall, you can easily hide it behind small stone walls or bushes where a normal tank would be spotted instantly.
L3/35 LF (Flamethrower): The ultimate bunker-buster. Right now, Axis at BR 1 really struggles against Allied flame tanks. This little guy would fill that gap perfectly, making it the ultimate high-risk tool to clear contested caps.
L3/35 CC (Anti-Tank): Equipped with the 20mm Solothurn AT rifle, perfect for hunting down early enemy armored cars, light tanks, or shredding engineer fortifications.
The best part is that this isn’t your typical static frontline tank. It’s an “armored guerrilla” vehicle. Thanks to a top speed of over 40 km/h and only 12-14mm of armor, the vehicle is incredibly light. This lack of heavy plating is actually a massive advantage: it gives the tankette a crazy power-to-weight ratio, allowing it to scale steep sand dunes, rubble piles, and steep slopes where regular tanks just slip or get belly-up. It turns into the perfect vertical ambush asset, allowing you to infiltrate crazy spots—like driving inside the French hangars in Normandy or the factory floors in Stalingrad, squeezing right through broken walls or wide doors. You can literally drive up to trenches and clear out enemy machine-gun nests at point-blank range. Imagine a vehicle that is small, light, mean, agile, and a bit like a glass cannon, specifically designed to lead the infantry with extreme mobility, agility, and maneuverability. This is not just a tankette; it is the answer to what many players have been asking for! A light tank capable of clearing out even the tightest mouse holes in your house! What do you guys think? Would you prefer to see it in the main tech tree or maybe as a specialized vehicle for the motorcycle squads or as an autonomous “tankette” tank with 3 variants (Standard, Lanciafiamme, AT 20mm)?
