Vehicle budget system

Piggybacking off of the motorcycle poll, I propose addressing vehicles in general with a budget system.

Each vehicle would have a set value depending on what type of vehicle it is, how effective it is, etc.
Each player’s lineup would have a budget for the amount of active vehicles available, and each team would have a budget to limit what vehicles can be fielded at the same time.

That way instead of tanks and motorcycles being worth the same, a team that uses motorcycles instead of tanks would be able to field more vehicles at once.

By extension, a Stuart would be worth less than a jumbo, and a fighter would be worth less than a bomber.

That gives some motivation for players to pick something other than the most powerful option for their lineup, as they could field vehicles more often if they pick weaker ones.

The idea has been mentioned often already…

So no, for me for the same reasons:

A team budget would punish everyone if even a single guy spawn suicide vehicles, like planes, or play terribly like trying to frontaly assault a jumbo with a puma for example.

It would also punish those who spent countless hours to unlock later vehicles if they can only spawn their toy once per match or so and “luckily” get bombed seconds after spawning.

Those restrictions simply wouldn’t add any fun to the core game.

Solution for the new motorcycle squad and upcoming motorized units: a new group with a separate max, same as planes and tanks. There would be planes/vehicles/motorized infantry.

You misunderstand, this is a budget for active vehicles, not total vehicles.

If someone loses a vehicle playing badly, the cost of that vehicle is cleared from the budget.

ie- the team is using 10/10 vehicle points. Now this jumbo just died and it’s worth 7 so the team is now using 3/10 vehicle points until the next vehicle spawns.

Ah, so more like an active quota.

That WOULD work, BUT!

For that we would need the option to choose wich vehicle to spawn when selecting our squad. If you enter a match and your squad is “equipped” with the latest tank, chances are you won’t be able to spawn much if at all with it.

To compensate it would be a solution to be able to chose wich vehicle your squad would spawn with when selecting it, before clicking the spawn button.

But I still prefer the present system, only that a separate group for motorized infantry is needed.

I kind of agree but at the same time I agree with @Conscript_Joe.
Your gameplay / loadout shouldn’t be limited by your random teammates. I preffer more “presonal” solutions.

In practice I doubt it.

We get enough battles where players fail to max out the slots we have.

Most ridiculous scenario the way I see it would be a motorcycle gang.
And the idea is for planes and ground vehicles to share a budget, so at most I’m thinking 3 Stuarts and a motorcycle or something.

You laugh, but I really thought about organizing a motorcycle race around the battlefield. Bullets would be… Obstacles.

obviously since half of the team are usually bot, by the time get released people definitely wont touch this squad anymore because they already get better squad to use

howeber still possible if all player are real player since people do love vehicles but dont want to spend money to buy premium bike

Personal buget - good idea, but I would not nickel and dime too much. A player that doesn’t die much in his vehicle should not have a problem of being restricted. It might be a strategic decision, to have another spawn available in case of few more deaths, but not so restrictive to force you into playing weaker vehicles (unless they have already died at least twice).

Squad Suicide - Fix loophole - players who are determinet to play only one vehicle or squad simply deliberately suicide to jump back into their chosen position. Some might be easy to detect with an algorithm, some might not, but something might be done here.
Other than punishiments for suicide bombings, perhaps each vehicle (or class of vehicle) should have a spawn limit (e.g. 5 spawns per game).

Squad Suicide - Time Limit - time limit vehicle squad use after death - if someone tried to avoid the wait to get back into their favorite Shemran Jumbo, or Ju 87 Stuka D-5, give them a set time limit (5 minutes should be enough) before they can respawn in it again, regardless of whether they loose two other squads in between, or not.

Personal Vehicle Type Limit - one that already exists for aircraft, but that would include tanks splitting them between light/scoute and medium tanks. Tanks like Pzkfpw II, Puma, Stuart would have their own single slot, and two would be reserved for medium tanks.

Hard Vehicle Limit (Tanks & Aircraft) - I think this is an issue, and there can’t be much done about it. Two tanks and two planes seems like enough, and I don’t think you can have more than 3 at a time of each, and there will be people against this. I think personal budget might be a better option in that case, than team budget.
On the other side, players could receive a lot of point for destroying (or helping to destroy) such vehicles. Making it perhaps possible that the enemy team scores more point if this tanks spawns, than when it does not.

Line-up - Another major issue is line-up restriction of vehicles. Not only are you restricted from using more than one vehicle squad (or 2 in case of Premium), but you can’t even use available vehicles within a squad, but the one you chose before the game.
For most players any budget like that is out of the question based on this, and I doubt Gajin will be willing to give this up.

Personal Budget for Heavy Vehicles - something I have been thinking about since there are not heavy tanks in the game yet, but there probably will be. I would suggest limiting it behind a point system (similar to War Thunder of CAS), where each player needs to achieve a certain score in a game in order to use it
I would also add an per game limit, where those most special and powerfull vehicles could only be used at most once every 3 games, 5 games.

Pure Fighters - the least used and honestly the most useless type of vehicle in the game. They do little more a little better than regular fighers, and what do you do when there are no aircraft in the air, because you just shot one down, or because they keep crashing into the ground?
And air combat mostly revolves around who sees who first anyway.
I would add an ‘Return to Base’, button that would allow the player to spawn into another squad, as the figher gracefully returns the airfields somewhere.

Motorcycles - There should be separate limits for tansk and motorcycles. It is ridiculous to put them in a single category, and it is also ridiculous to re-work an entire working system just to accomodate that.
There are valid reasons to try to change the vehicle system, and I agreed and expressed the, but not because of the motorcyles.
