Today marks the anniversary of Japan’s unconditional surrender. This brought an end to combat across the Asia‑Pacific theatre of World War II. The full legal conclusion of the entire Second World War came later on September 2, when Japan formally signed its instrument of surrender.
We already saw community threads and official in‑game content for VE‑Day, celebrating the end of fascism on the European front. It would only be appropriate to also honour this important historical milestone.
At the same time, we cannot forget the controversial moves DF made around this time last year.
Right before August 15, the anniversary of Japan’s unconditional surrender, Japanese‑faction weapons received buffs. Then BR adjustments for Japanese equipment landed shortly before September 2, the day the surrender document was signed aboard the USS Missouri. Everyone can see what timing these changes were picking. Fortunately, the Far East theatre had not been released yet, and Allied players already got a taste of getting overwhelmed by Japan from BR 1 all the way to BR 3.

Wonder what will happen this year. Italy and Germany received nothing for VE‑Day, but when it comes to the “respected” Japanese faction, they will probably bring out that BR‑2 Thompson with over 1000 RPM and 8.2 damage, paired with a marathon event.
Speaking of this gun, it only makes the Chinese‑built Soviet Thompson look like a total joke.
I think it would be better to create more ambush‑friendly maps for the Japanese faction.
Historically, Japan suffered from far worse supply and inferior equipment compared to its enemies. Unlike Germany, it could not draw extra hardware from Romania, Hungary or Italy to reinforce itself.
Rather than buffing weapon stats repeatedly, add practical gadgets and fortifications such as pillboxes and trenches. Let Japanese troops fight against well‑equipped US forces by making good use of terrain.
Revisions to current Pacific maps would also help.
That won’t work in our game. It has a completely different concept and dynamics.
And our players… most aren’t smart enough to even build a rally point.
Given the current state of the Japanese faction, it would be good to see new semi-automatics and SMGs. I also think they could start by tweaking a few things in the tech tree such as moving the Type 96 and Type 2A to BR2 and reducing the vertical recoil of the KE7 and Type 99 LMG.
But wasn’t that the point for VE day? It was theAllies who one, same for VJ day…I’m all for giving Japan new stuff, but for the anniversary of surrendering?
At least last year, the Japanese faction received major buffs shortly before the historic surrender anniversary. I think it is hard not to connect the two events
If you say first change is related to historical event, I will say maybe. But saying the second change is related to historical event is more of a coincidence. They simply notice that the first change make certain gun too powerful in that br so they change the br and nerf the damage of some guns. And tbh those nerf are relatively quick by dev standard.
Lol we never have a VJ day event in the first place. Now you are claiming that Japan will get something for it. This is simply a conspiracy theory, maybe keep your rant about Japan bias in your people’s forum.
