Use. Your. Eyes

Pilots, please note that we are not able to mark every single enemy 24/7. We try our best and half the time you ignore marks after spamming “Need Enemy Coordinates” into the chat.
Not only are tanks hard to miss with their massive muzzle flash and MG tracers - you can see them when they are not firing. Hell, it’s possible to see infantry on the battlefield (I can and I often go on gun runs. No marks. Just actual vision) and I know quite a few players who can as well.

You can ask for marks, but don’t start getting mad at the team for not being able to supply you with a red dot. Instead, open your eyes.

well weather brings down visibility a lot. also you need to have target well before approach to kill it. you cant make last second adjustments with plane.

I’m aware you can’t make last sec adjustments and I agree with the weather factor. It’s much easier to go on a “scouting” run with one wing pointed downward so that you can see, or initiate a shallow dive and spot things.

if you have game sense and the enemys are dumb/bots you dont even need a ping or to see them to get 15 kill

well problem is that game sense can score you 15 kills or 0 kills. also if you are playing on maps with many buildings it is really hard to get kills without exact enemy positions. on open maps it is easy.

also they need to fix plane marking. now it is showing markers well below where you are pointing. if i see tank muzzle flash i mark it for easier targeting.

You know, it’s hard to spot infantry for yourself and get accurate bomb runs.
And you can lose small tanks pretty easily as well, especially in forests and stuff.

I always try to wait for muzzle flashes. As for infantry, you can see shell tracers.

I think that’s a very valid argument, and whenever I fly I try to give a heads up to the ground team with a quick note to mark targets, or sometimes something more specific like “bombs inc mk tgts”.

You have to remember that the flight models are rubbish and the aircraft controls means that one is fighting for control of the aircraft more often than not - hence the easy kamikaze runs which spawn you above target and all you have to do is watch for FLOT, dive and release ordnance before impact.

When one actually choses to fly and bomb, there are no functional means to do this - even for the actual bombers, there are only MG sights implemented. So in order to adjust for the best drop on target and adopting the most optimal approach for a given map, the infantry needs to mark the enemy early and consistently to allow the pilot to orient onto target.

Not sure if you noticed, but unless you get the bombs into a relatively uncluttered target area, the terrain obstruction will soak up most of the bomb damage, making the run ineffective and overall removing a live player from the game continuum without much contribution, something given the limited amount of actual human players in many games, that should be avoided.

Having said that, for all the BS quick chat functions the ones for air-ground coord still seem to be WIP as the Dev team struggles to overcome years of FPS /infantry centric games as they build up to their version of a combined arms experience.

So in closing, its going to be a bit of a contribution from both sides, pilots need to call out inc, and infantry need to spam the v’s. Ultimately, the team that does this better will win.

I don’t need accurate marks, I just need a mark. General location, so I know where to look for troop movements. Once I have that, yeah, I can lock in for a good drop using my own sight. This should be something infantry is doing anyway, because your AIs also zero in on marked areas and any targets there.

The worst thing, though, is wildly inaccurate marks. If you’re marking a building, but wind up targeting a ridgeline the next country over, that helps no one.

Interesting one for me. I have no issues finding targets without marks.

That said, accuracy on tank hits is better when marked. The game has marking built in AND a quick chat to request.

Forget spamming - often the first time I ask for it in a game someone goes postal telling me I’m a noob and to open my eyes.

Everyone needs to take a damn breath. Even if a pilot asks for it on every bombing run, what’s the big deal? Perhaps they want to target the tanks with best possible accuracy to help the team.

Someone had to say it.

And I couldn’t agree more.

Realise that you have roughly 1-2s to spot targets before you have to line up and drop if you’re going in for a bomb strike.
Muzzle flashes can be difficult to spot on hidden light tanks, and on heavier ones, you may not even catch them firing. If anything, the machine gun is more reliable. And even then it’s important to know where the tank is ahead of time, so you can line yourself up for a more accurate drop.
As for infantry, tracers are unreliable. You need to know where a large swarm of infantry is or where there is a strategic target your infantry needs to take down, which is why marking is important. If noone marks, I’d rather guess and go for a spot where there’s usually enemies then go by tracers and get 3 kills with my whole bomb load.

Dont forget that sometimes tanks arent even on the battlefield. Or, even if you would spot, are not in a position to do so.
