Kinda dumb question, but how do you even lift off with those things? Every single time I try to lift off, either engine dies or blades decide to fold themselves. On a side note, is there even a slice of usefulness in them? (mainly roll with axis)
Still find them odd.
Would have it been that hard to just put in 109s or 190s?
Just throttle up, put the flaps to ‘takeoff’, release the brake, and hope you don’t get shot by literally anything while taking off.
They aren’t particularly useful as anything other than cover since they don’t have any armaments other than the basic guns. For allies, chances are someone has a plane or engineer with AAA to shoot down the barage balloons, which is their only other use.
The only lift off those things have is lifting you back to the squad selection screen.
don’t even bother, everyone is just going to shoot you because you’re a massive target, better off helping your team
I use them to shoot the balloons sometimes. I like when maps have unique objectives and vehicles. Maybe some maps can have tanks sitting that you can get into.
They can be decent if you do manage to take off and the enemy has a bunch of dumb pilots. The first time I took off I was Axis, originally I was trying to see if I could fly and call artillery with my arty (doesn’t work btw). At the end I managed to shoot down 16 planes in the course of the whole round, this was when the P-38 was a bullet sponge too. The biplanes are slow but have a really quick turn which takes by surprise a lot of players, made it easy to snipe out the pilots because they were always trying to out-turn me.
But stuff like this rarely ever happens, so it’s better for you to be of use for your team because you are likely going to achieve nothing while in one.
In theory, they work. In practice, getting in one means everyone on the enemy team is now going to shoot at you and the plane until you die before you can even take off.
well…
those biplanes are just for mimic.
because their armament is quite… pathetic in terms of normandy standards and its speed it’s almost non existant.
the only effective use, it’s for the ally to grab one of those at start game and shoot down planty of baloons.
since they have like 1 minuts before axis planes can roll up.
in the meanwhile, you will be able to gain alot of tickets.
but beside that, it’s not really usefull.
like, for dog fight, it’s slow. and it’s going to take you probably all your ammo just to scratch those things considering the distance.
on the other hand, if you are a german, don’t even bother.
AIs will prioritize you since you are the closest target to them. and rifle fire can easely take them out of action.
so rip.
a " nice " mechanic in theory, no so usefull in pratice
Free vehicle destroyed xps.
I do it some time, getting killed every time in the strafe run by some springfield
