M2 carbine. It should be classified as an assault rifle and should be in service with assault troops. It would be the equivalent of the German StG44 and the Russian AS-44. Instead, the T20E2 weapon should be added. The game already has the T20E1 as a battle lane weapon. It would be an equivalent of the German FG42, Russian AVT-40.
Additionally, the Hyde M1944 weapon should be added for obvious reasons.
Currently, the USA at level 5 only has the Thompson with a 50-round magazine, too much recoil and low effectiveness at medium-long distances. This is not very optimistic for the USA playing at the top level.
The US (And japanese) are likely to receive an assault rifle of some sort in the following updates as the dev promised an event engineer squad that could use assault rifle for each faction.
The hyde 1944 would likely be an obvious contender for the role of assault rifle in the US weaponry.
However many players don’t want the M2 carbine to be class restricted. Sure it could be considered as an assault rifle, but imo, this is too late in the game development to change that.
They could make M2 similar to VG 1-5 - available to everyone who can carry semi-auto and/or smg. Call its weapon class a ‘PDW’ or something.
Another option would be M3 carbine as an Assault Rifle - with forward grip, no need for nightvision scope for progression gun just yet.
Or they could re-introduce R 80 Monitor as a progression Assault Rifle - there has to be a reason why prem squad was removed from store.
Is it too late, because as far as I’m concerned this is the perfect time to make those controversial changes seems how they just took one and paced a good twenty steps back. The update they made was much too late and it seemingly just put the limelight on every bad feature of the game by removing it’s one redeeming feature, campaigns. The separation of fronts and equipment.
To be fair though, they did it because they were backed in a corner with no room for improvement so they took a shot in the dark and left themselves in a spot where there is no room for improvement.
Japan had no assault rifle( no im not talking about auto rifles).
Go check any source ,japanese or not, you will find nothing.
