US fighter using AP instead of HEI, why?

I just check the enlisted Google sheet and found out the ALL US fighter aircraft ate equiped with Armour Piercing and Tracer instead of High Explosive Incendiary. Anyone why cause shouldn’t fighter have HE to shoot plane? All the other nations use HEI or at least have 1 gun, usually a 20mm using HEI, but not the US.

The P-38 20mm doesn’t use HE?

Aside from a few aircraft most US aircraft use 50.cal

Yes, sorry I just checked. But they are attacker, not fighter aircraft
