yes, that is how I made the mp40 light bolt and new para uniforms, I can add stuff to an entities.blk file (which is capable of modifying most aspects of the game) The MP40 Light-Bolt is known as mp40_LB_gun in my blk file, as opposed to just mp40_gun.

I already did something similar with some lighter recon tanks (m5a1, Puma, etc…) in some of my mods
although not as in depth as you suggested

For certain German vehicle it should depend, on this special panzer IV, it can still be called in even on a crew of 2 as long as someone is in the gunner seat.
