Unturned WWII: The story of a forgotten battle

I was browsing through my photo collection when I came across these screenshots from a World War 2 server I used to play on in the game Unturned, about 5 years ago.

I thought I’d share them because I’m bored.

The server was divided between the German and Russian factions, each with its own base and a map with various points to conquer during battles organised in the server to have more players available.

I was in command of the German panzer division and during this battle I decided to take some photos for the propaganda newspaper in the discord server

The order has arrived
After a meeting with senior officers in the command building, it was decided that the objective of this battle will be a village in the center of the map.
The infantry will be responsible for maintaining control of the village and resisting a Russian assault.
The objective of the panzer division will be to intercept any vehicles and control the village’s surroundings.

We will win this battle if we manage to maintain control for at least one in-game day.

  • Three King Tigers are available for the mission.
Tank crews, aided by some soldiers, prepare the tanks for battle by replenishing ammunition and fuel, and completing some repairs.

  • The tanks are ready and we are proceeding with a final inspection while waiting for the green light.

  • I took two group photos of some soldiers who were assisting us and will participate in the defense of the internal part of the village. Who knows who of them will be able to return.

  • The green light has been given and the tanks are moving from the base entrance towards the village.

  • The journey is long on a 70-ton vehicle. The infantry is already engaging enemy forces, and the sun is beginning to set.
It’s going to be a long night.

  • We finally reach the village late at night. I ordered the lights to be turned off to avoid being seen from a distance, and we are skirting the village.
Shortly after this photo, we encountered some enemy forces.

  • We have reached the railway that passes through the village. The tank in front of me has just eliminated some enemy forces in the railway station and I order to move to a nearby hill to avoid being surrounded and to have a better view.

  • We reached a small hill nearby when it suddenly began to rain heavily.
Part of the village was visible in the background.
The night continued calm and wet. The battle would soon end.

  • We return victorious to base,
but before logging off, I decide to take one last photo to commemorate the victory with the crew of my tank (I’m in the turret) and some soldiers, including an infantry officer.

I hope you enjoyed this little story

That looks hella fun.

Reminds of me of my time during Roblox WW2 war groups in 2015 - 2020 before I quit that game for good. Good times, man.

Same vibes from gmod RP servers, good times indeed, back during the golden era at least, not that husk that it has become.
