In its current state, if you are max level on a campaign for one country and continue playing, you get nothing. On top of this, it does not store any XP you earn, and just discards it, so it’s not even useful for future updates or levels.
There should be a “universal experience” storage of sorts, that allows you to apply XP that would otherwise be discarded due to being max level, and allow you to apply it to another country or another campaign entirely, possibly at a reduced rate to balance it.
For example, if you are max level in Normandy with the Allies, and you play as the Allies in Normandy, you may “earn” 17,000 XP, but that will be discarded as you’re already max level. With this system, you could convert that to the Normandy Axis, or another campaign at an exchange rate with a 25-50% XP fee. In this case, if you wanted to convert this (would be wasted) 17,000 XP to the Normandy Axis team, you could do it, but it will only grant you 50-75% of the initial XP earned, which would apply 8500-12750 XP of the 17000 initially converted.
Overall, this is one of the biggest issues that I and people that I play with encounter. We absolutely love playing Campaign X, but at the same time, it seems wasteful since our XP is just being thrown away, so we will play a non-maxed campaign that we enjoy far less.
i trully only enjoy axis in berlin, its the only one i did play after i compleated the campaign just to level every single squad and soldier / weapon and vehicle.
the remaining campaigns are just to fill and enjoy extra content. not a huge fan of tunisia or moscow. normandy feels ok but once max level, i dont care much about the squads or progression there. yet.
but, its a game, after we grinded the campaign, we can trully have fun with our toys and soldiers without the “i need to win to get more xp” that keeps ticking in my head. and thats, where the game shines for me. i can finnaly just decide wtf i want to do without a single care if i win or loose lol x) i can even sit in a tank on an ambush position just to kill enemy tanks without the need to care much about the capture point . thats fun for me.
OP : that would be only good for the players and not for their business. they want the players to play the game, for them to invest in the game and keep it running. if i could play berlin 24/7 and have the other campaigns unlocked as i was playing, i didnt had to invest in extra slots for them, premium squads or my time playing to fill a slot on another batle…
the campaigns are there for us to choose, you dont have to play them all . focus on the one you trully enjoy , xp isnt everything.
It’s maybe a way for the Devs to somewhat manage the campaigns that the player base flocks to.
We all know that new levels are coming to all the campaigns in the future, if players could “bank” XP earned on the current levels, it’s possible that those players would have enough xp in the bank to insta-unlock the new levels as soon as they are released.
Depending on the weapons/vehicles unlocked on those new levels, that could give them a distinct advantage to then more easily “bank” additional XP for the next round of levels in that campaign.
Yeah, I see and understand both sides. The only issue I keep seeing is if someone is max level on every campaign, the Devs run the risk of losing the interest of the most dedicated players until they add something new to unlock.
Even then, once they unlock it, the cycle repeats, should players continue playing just to “waste” their time. This assumption is ignoring playing just for fun obviously, as my friends and I often play the campaigns were maxed on for enjoyment, but it always burdens us consciously.
