Type Ho-Ki and T-20 Komsomolets

Hello everyone!

I’d like to suggest two iconic vehicles for the game: the Type Ho-Ki and the T-20 Komsomolets.

I don’t understand why these APCs still aren’t in the game. They are among the most iconic armored personnel carriers of their respective factions!

T-20 Komsomolets — a Soviet light artillery tractor that could be an interesting addition to Soviet vehicles.

Type Ho-Ki — a Japanese tracked armored personnel carrier that could add more variety to the Japanese army’s transport vehicles.

The Germans and Americans also need their own armored personnel carriers! Feel free to share your suggestions in the comments!

Where should they be added?
  • Add them to the research tree
  • Add them as event vehicles
  • Don’t add them

No from me. The T-20 Komsomolets is not an APC — it’s an artillery tractor, purpose-built to tow 45mm AT guns, 76mm guns, and 120mm mortars to the front line. Calling it an APC is like calling a tow truck a taxi.

And honestly, the APC class itself is a dead end right now. The Universal Carrier proved that — it’s been reduced to a mobile rally point people park behind a hill, a “human spawn node” that nobody actually plays as a vehicle. Why would we want more of that? Adding the T-20 and Ho-Ki as more spawn buses doesn’t add variety, it just gives us three identical vehicles with different skins.

The T-20 Komsomolets is not really an APC, and honestly, neither is it “just” a tow tractor. What it actually represents is something this game doesn’t have as a defined class yet: an armed battlefield utility vehicle — a light tracked carrier that tows guns, hauls ammunition and supplies, and can carry a light weapon of its own. And here’s the part that makes this exciting rather than just a niche request: every major faction had one of these.

  • Soviet Union — the T-20 Komsomolets
  • Germany — the Sd.Kfz. 2 Kettenkrad
  • France — the Renault UE Chenillette
  • Italy — the Cv.33 (L3/33) carrier variants

These aren’t random picks. Historically, all four did the same job — they were the little battlefield workhorses that towed AT guns, moved ammunition forward, laid communication lines, and generally kept a squad supplied under fire. The UE and the Kettenkrad were even routinely fitted with machine guns or light weapons for self-defense. That’s an armed supply carrier in everything but name.

So my concern is this: if the T-20 gets added as just another APC, we lose the chance to establish a proper, faction-symmetric utility carrier class — and the T-20, Kettenkrad, UE, and Cv.33 all deserve better than to be three skins of the same spawn bus.
(Ho-Ki is at least a real APC, but it’s still just more of the same spawn-bus problem)

Voted no hoping the OP would reconsider / think it through more.
and I’ll write up a proper T-20 tow-vehicle suggestion.

The Universal Carrier was the most-produced armored vehicle of WWII — 110,000+ built, the iconic British AFV — and the devs turned it into a mobile rally point. A respawn flag with tracks. That’s what happens when a vehicle gets dumped into the APC class without a real idea behind it. And it happened because the devs, at that point, clearly didn’t have a better idea for what to do with it. That’s what “out of ideas” looks like.

The problem with the komsomolets is that it was too slow, weighting 3,5 tons with an engine that produced only 50hp, its top speed barely reaching 50km/h on road, besides it was not just open top, all the crew was exposed to shrapnel and enemy fire.

The Sd.Kfz 7 was an artillery tractor too, it shouldn’t be an APC, devs should’ve given us the Opel Blitz or some Mercedes truck
