Type 99 Light Machine Gun — concept of rebalancing into a sniper machine gun
Current problems with the Type 99?
The machine gun lacks any standout characteristics. A modest magazine of only 30 rounds and an average rate of fire are combined with unpleasant horizontal recoil and a massive vertical magazine that obscures the right side of the screen when aiming. In addition, the Type 96 is simply better than it in almost everything.
The core of the proposal: turn the Type 99 into an ultra-accurate machine gun
Instead of simply dropping the machine gun down to BR 2 (spawning yet more clones with 30-round magazines), it makes more sense to give it a unique and strong role at its current BR 3.
Structurally, the Type 99 was originally designed as a highly accurate and stable system: a powerful 7.7 mm cartridge, massive bipods, an optical sight, and an additional rear monopod under the stock were designed specifically for precise shooting.
Proposed changes:
- Drastically reduce recoil: Lower the effective vertical recoil to approximately the 20–22 range (currently 32), and most importantly — significantly cut the horizontal jumps down to 10–12 (currently 19). It is the horizontal recoil combined with the vision-blocking magazine that makes shooting it so unpleasant right now.
- Provide high accuracy: Noticeably reduce the base dispersion to 0.20-0.23 (currently 0.31) and the movement dispersion while aiming and shooting from the hip down to 8-10 and 13-15 respectively (currently 13 and 30 respectively).
Compared to its sibling, the Type 96, it features a lower sprint speed (55 vs 65). This gives players a choice between a more accurate and a more mobile machine gun, despite their overall similarity.
Poll
- Yes, lower the recoil and dispersion, focusing on accurate shooting
- No, it’s better to just move it to BR 2 in its current state
- Leave everything as it is now
