Type 95 Kurogane with 2cm Type 99 Autocannon

Greetings

As the war progressed and Japan had used up all of its fighting strength, especially in the air, infantry begin cannibalizing unserviceable aircraft and fielding their weapons. Here is where we find the Type 99 2cm Cannon, mainly from the A6 series of aircraft.

Many of these were retrofitted with tripod and mounts to be fielded on the ground by infantry. Some of them were even mounted on light vehicles. Here we can see an example of a ground modification of the 2cm Type 99 Mk.2

According to Wikipedia:

The Type 99 Mark 1 and Mark 2 were not models of the same gun, instead they had parallel lines of development into several different models. Because of the close technical similarity, several modifications were adopted to both guns simultaneously.

Here is a comparison image between both weapons. The Mark 1 is on top and the Mark 2 is on the bottom.

2cm Type 99 Mk.1 Characteristics

  • Ammunition - 20x72mm RB
  • Length: 133 cm (52 in)
  • Weight: 23 kg (51 lb)
  • Muzzle Velocity: 600 m/s (2000 ft/s)

2cm Type 99 Mk.2 Characteristics

  • Ammunition - 20x101mm RB
  • Length: 189 cm (74 in)
  • Weight: 34 kg (75 lb)
  • Muzzle Velocity: 750 m/s (2460 ft/s)

I suggest adding one or several of these variants to the game, for this purpose I’m proposing all three main variants of the Type 95 Kurogane and all of the available variants of the 2cm Type 99 (For the sake of simplicity I’m only choosing the belt-fed variants as the drum fed ones look silly.)

Additionally, in the case that the vehicle is added to the game with a squad, be it premium or event, i think it would be really thematic for the squad to be part of the SNLF since these cannons were fielded by the Imperial Japanese Navy. (We also need more IJN squads)

Do you want this vehicle to be added?

  • Yes
  • No (Please explain)

No. As i’m against more of these useless novelty vehicles being added.

The next event is already going to be plagued by it.

You have something against fun?
Swings and round roundabouts IMO you may not like it but next update may have something you like.
Variety is fun IMO, Hopefully there’s something for you next update :peace_symbol:

Hey you might not but others might. We don’t have them yet give them a chance.
However I do see your point they might be pretty weak (which people may not find fun), but I want to try them first before I write them off.

Is there actual proof of these cars being armed with these or is this just another plausibility. Like how they slaped the Te-4 on the motorcycle and universal carrier

It is not Type 99 Mark 2 but more looks like Mark 1 with some additional muzzle break on the end

Interesting that it is belt fed Type 99 Mark 1 so it is Type 99 Mark 1 Model 4. Only planes which had it was E16A and J2M3/5 Raiden so I think it is gun from Raiden.

But of course there were Type 99 Mark 2 on tripods also

Type 99 Mark 2 Model 3 (100 round drum)
