I played yesterday and I notised that enemy used tanks only twice during my 5 matches. I wonder if it’s caused by large ammount of infantry AT weapons. Currently ammount of grenades to explosive charges ratio is ~1:1 so destroying enemy tanks is only the matter of oportunity, not avalability.
I would suggest to lower the amount of explosive charges so they are available but also too important to waist them.
Well as there are many players that claim that tanks are OP, I highly doubt that is the case.
Instead, the realisation that tanks do not win the game has lead to a decrease in tank usage. Most players only use them if they can afford to / when their team does not need them running into a cap point. And with the ammount of bots filling the matches, there rarely is a case where players can go into a tank without the battle just going into a slog.
No, please no.
The range of explosives is very limited. Soz you have to get close to tank to take it out. It’s the job of the infantry to keep out potential suicide players or the job of tanks to not venture into places with too many enemy infantry. And the hand held AT guns don’t work very consistently while the engineer build AT cannons is very situational. And any time put into making one is time lost playing the objective.
All in all, tank warfare is in a good place now. Tanks can either be the most devastating weapon on the battlefield or a waste of space. But that heavily depends on whoever is using it.
If the devs decide to reduce explosive charges, they should atleast make the AT guns work well. If not, there is not a lot you can do to counter tanks other than to hope that one of your teammate is good with tanks.
I personally think it is mostly dependant on the players around it, and how much they support the tank. Any average player can go in a tank and perform roughly equally.
Good point actually.
Tanks definitely aren’t hard to use when you’re in the right place, but the value of placement itself can’t be underrated.
You have to be close enough to the action to have an impact on the battle, but without being exposed and accessible. Most tankers I see are either overly cautious or overly reckless.
Of course the ones that play aggressive don’t play aggressive enough. If you’re going to go in point blank and screeching, you better be at cruise-control max the entire time running people over while you do it and hope you don’t get stuck.
No, this is one of the aspects of the game that are cimpletely fine.
More likely the enemy players were using aircraft for their 1 allowed vehicle slot, and you were playing lots of bots - so not many players in the first place.
I regularly see 4 tanks on the field at a time - 2 per side.
As others have said - they are situational and usually quite hard for infantry to kill - I think my AT rifle gunner has killed 1 tank and 4-5 crew on its way to squad level 15 where it is at now!
If their friendly infantry keep enemy infantry away then explosives are useles, and I usually die to another tank rather than infantry.
