Toggle reloading in tank

Let us hold off loading another shell if we want so the correct ammunition can be loaded as needed.

This, yes please. Hate wasting shells on invasion just to switch, or having to reload by firing to the ground every time I finish of a tank.

Except it is actually what was done IRL - removing a shell that was loaded had several problems - the crew are not in optimum position to retrieve it, and the shell might be seperated from the case.

So shoot it off - it’s faster anyway!

All that said, apparently ther is a high level perk for tankers that lets you do it.

AP will happily kill a soldier or MG or AT gun - I just use htem at hte first available target of any type.

Not unload the shell, just stop the loading of another shell so the gun is left empty after firing if wanted.
Also an option to have the gun start empty and then pick the first shell you want.

Yes that is the modern practice at least - so you can then choose what to shoot based on what comes into your sights next.

Dunno about WW2 - you do hear lots of stories about Shermans havine a smoke round “up the spout” so they could fire it and get instant comver, which makes you think they didn’t agree with that!! :open_mouth:

What flanker said. It was quite common for tankers to shoot a round and wait for commanders orders to know which shell they will load. It was very rare for a tank to drive around with a loaded shell. Not only was it not practical it was dangerous as well.

You get a slight increase in load time when changing shell type, not to mention when you empty a round to change to a different shell, you have to wait for your tank to stabilize making it often harder to shoot accurately.

The perk just eliminates the shell type change penalty.

When I finish of a tank, and see 5 guys holding an explosive pack that I could either blast all in one go or die. It’s sad when I have to wait for my loader to not only stabilize the gun after an ap shot, but since I just killed enemy tank, he has to load in AP shell again as well. Meaning I have to wait two reload times + change type penalty + gun stabilization for no reason.

I’d like to see some documentary evidence to support that conclusion - the little evidence I’ve seen is anecdotal, and consists of tankers having the ammo loaded for the opponent they expected to face - if they got it wrong then they would shoot it and change.
