Add all the current squads that don’t have the blue check mark next to them, into favorites category. then go to upgrades and favorites and you’ll see the squads you need, then go to favorite in squad set, and you’ll see the ones that you need to focus on upgrading.

I was hoping this was something new like keeping track of the actual squads. I will have to look into this. So a check for 100% complete?

whenever you 100% a squad and it gets the blue checkmark put it at the bottom of the squads list so your not tempted to waste match xp on it till you’ve 100%'d all squads for that nation…
then when you’ve 100%'d a nation worry about how you wanna group your squads 
tip for the annoying squads: try rushing engineer if its in their upgrade tree then use that squad to build your rallys so they get passive xp whenever someone spawns on your rally even when your not using that squad

Ahh now I understand what you are trying to say. I thought you found something new and interesting.
I found it better to be opportunistic with those squads having no more than 2 in my 10 squad lineup. I always run boosters but only level up a squad if its an easy points burst. If you try and do stuff with 1 main and 3 scrubs its usually ends bad.
i completely get that, the amount of tilt one experiences when all you’ve got for ground troops is 1 sniper squad and 2 radio squads and your the only person in your team trying to take point is unbearable
ngl sometimes id build the two aa turrets near each other then swap over to the shitty squad and farm 5-7 planes if it’s a plane heavy match
