Honestly there are so many times where tanks and snipers hiding all the way behind lines camping. I think there should be a time limit for how long you can stay so far back and start damaging said troops once time limit is up. Because the way the grey zone is right now that its so far back for the opposite team that you cannot get close to use Ex pack or TNT before being killed by grey zone area. Am suggesting that the time limit would force some players to get closer, at least close enough for enemy to try to attack, i think this opens up for new tactical approach to flank enemy tanks or sniper campers.
Normandy D-Day is the best example where tanks camp on hills but no troops can approach it because its so far back into the grey zone area of the attackers but when timelimit is up they would need to move closer, close enough for attack troops to reach.
I have a novel idea for this.
For people camping all the way in the back, if they were there for more than a set period of time in a zone where the other team can not get to them to counter, they should be struck by lightning in game and immediately killed.
You are aware there are other options right? Planes, AT rifles, AT launchers, AT field guns, other tanks.
Unfortunately the explosive pack spam has gotten so bad that it is the main reason that tanks don’t push up. Plus not all tanks are designed to push up close. Normandy campaign for example, the M8 Scott and Axis equivalent are very light armor and designed to hit from afar. AT weapons that I pointed out are still more than capable of doing the job.
Also, because people seem to completely ignore this interesting little tactic:
Even if you can’t penetrate through the front to kill them, doesn’t mean you can’t incapacitate them. Putting 2 AP shells through the barrel of the tank will fry it. It cannot be repaired. So if you destroy that, even the heaviest tanks will be forced to move forward or abandon their vehicle.
I support this simply because it would look hilarious.
On another note, SOME guys can be EXTREMELY effective with scoped rifles, to a point that having them defend a cap is more effective than using a hmg. If those guys are here and keep denying the influx of attackers their way to the cap, while thinning out their numbers really fast… then they are useful. Being a bolt action enjoyer I can do this when I feel more relaxed.
Sadly… most players simply aren’t good with those rifles and seldom hit anyone with them, let alone deny cap zones…
Truth is, snipers and their scoped rifles should be some sort of “elite” class (those guys certainly have more training than regular riflemen). Maybe they should be unlocked much later.
Sniping attackers on a beach landing map, is a whole lot of fun. Especially wiping an entire squad before they can make the distance across the beach, to the objective. It’s funny watching the player’s behavior change as you keep killing the soldier he is switching to. The first death, the player usually switches and keeps running.
But after the 3rd or 4th time dying, he tries to lay down and hide behind something…
And the result is either he is easy to see, and gets picked off quickly.
Or the moment he pokes his head to look for “where” I’m shooting from (he take takes a bullet between the eyes)…
Next response, he often tries to “run for it”, with the remainder of his squad… and the best part is when you kill the LAST guy, just as he’s about to escape inside the bunker.
There’s nothing wrong with tanks or snipers “camping”. Camping is literally the job of the sniper. There are ways to counter them. There have been many times where I’ve been sniping and then I get shot by a tank or bombed by a plane.
Some people call it “camping” I call it using position to their advantage and thinning out the incoming infantry as well as being in a great position to accurately mark incoming enemies.
it’s so cheesy and cowardly play, get up to the point and stop being a pussy, sniping makes you a drag on the team. i can’t count how many games we could have won, ran out of spawns, only for the camera to pan to some bollockless twat sat 100m away from the point with a scoped rifle who could’ve made a difference if he wasn’t being such a massive pussy and ran to the point with the rest of us
There is nothing wrong with sniping, as long as the match is going in your teams favor. But if you see that your team is having trouble capping or keeping objectice, its time to move up and help your team in a more direct way.
Same thing with tankers, if your team can’t cap then its time jump out of your tank and cap the objective. There have been times I’ve just been unloading HE on cap, killing any enemy that touches it, yet no one on my team would touch cap… so I had to just say fuck it and hop out so I could cap the empty objective.
of course but do remember we are playing with a team with almost no communications at all, planes and tanks require marking to know the position and you should know that not everyone tends to put down markers. AT launchers and Rifles do work however it also depends on distance, piercing reduces depending on distance and if the said tanks are hiding like really far back then those weapons either cant reach or cant penetrate the armor.
Am not saying they shouldnt camp, my point is that the zone is too far back
again requires markings which some people dont do at all.
yes, i dont have issues with people camping with sniper, its the distance of grey zone areas thats the problem.
Maybe a gendarme instead of lightning?
I remember that there was a version of War Thunder that would spawn AI fighters to shoot them down in order to punish players who hid in the sky and stalled for time, maybe Enlisted can do it too? In order to punish the players hiding in the gray area, refresh the Gendarmerie AI to kill them?
A random howitzer barrage in grey area would be better and would also render the atmosphere of the battlefield better. Right now I feel like it’s quiet as a weekday picnic park except for the engagement areas
