They should have polls for updates

Instead of fixing or changing things people don’t want, or mentioned. They should have polls of things that people want or need changed. They need to be more interactive with people trying to provide feed back. Because what’s the point in the forums if they don’t reply or change what people are wanting fixed or changed.

Terrible idea … Game development by polls never works because we the people don’t have access to critical decision making data. And at the end of the day our investment in the game is very samll compared to the devs.

Would you like to invest literally millions into something and then turn the decision making process over to a mob? No you get to make suggestions about what you want but they get the final say so.

Well they need to more active in the forums. I don’t expect them replying to every thread, but to one maybe per week. That’s pretty bad, given this community is pretty active in the forums.

Terrible idea tbh. It would have worked in games where everyone has access to the same equipment and are even across the board. In Enlisted, players will mostly favor their favorite faction and also their play style, especially the cheesers who are happy to sit back and fire arty or mortar for the entirety of the game.

Devs taking their own decision is better for the game. Although it wouldn’t hurt to see a dedicated test team to check the updates before they are pushed to the public.

While I think they should engage more with the community like have a weekly online half hour chat or comment more on forums discussing next steps they wish to do so we get prepared for some unexpected changes, I think democracy does not work very well in this case.

You/we may end up with a faceless game with lots of contradictions breaking each other if you let all players have their opinions heard and implemented. There are many ways Enlisted can be better or worse. It’s really hard to balance between opinions of different player levels and play styles, and devs don’t always seem to find this balance. (I think that was diplomatic enough. )

E.g. when I started playing it I thought artillery strike and concussion is so cool, my ears were ringing a lot and had a hard time with orientation and learning where not to go, just like worst places in war. Then when HE shells from tanks became real, along with it the plane and artillery got too heavy and next to unbearable. But now I don’t seem to get enough artillery strikes and I will soon miss it, even though I know forum was full of “nerf artillery”.

So I think polls are only good if

  1. there is enough background info given and the voters are trusted (not our case) or
  2. the poll is about something that does not really matter (like which soldier model do you like more)

Of course there are lots of exceptions for this but a brainless poll is just as bad as an unasked change going wrong.
