BR I and II are totally Messed up, So much Mid to late war kit is in this rating window that it makes trying to enjoy Early war Planes and kit almost imposable. When you have the P38G which is a BR I-II plane and the P38E a III?, and planes like the P51C flying along side Early War Planes like the A5M, and Hs 123 it’s a bit nuts.
The inclusion of BR III Kit is also not helping maters at all.
They relay need three BR Match up’s, not two.
BR I and II should be 39-41 Kit tops, and have a new Mid level BR where Jut III can play together if they must have but 5, and not 6 BR’s.
Really we have only Two category’s of Battles, Kind of Early to mid war, and More or less late war kit.
I don’t think the argument that most players suck at flying and are not hard to shoot down really makes a lot of since when trying to rationalize the current BR match up’s.
Really the BR has nothing to do at all with the historical timeline. The vehicles and weapons are solely rated according to their in-game stats and performance and not by the time period of their manufacture or use.
I agree it would be nice if there was an option for historical loadouts. Unfortunately any type of discussion in that direction inevitably gets derailed by people throwing mud into the water and questioning the very meaning of the word itself.
It was teased at one time that custom battles will one day get their due and be remade into a system that’s useable for such games. Maybe we’ll see something like that happen this year
I understand there just looking at the stats, but Real world entry dates do generally correspond to performance, there are exceptions, early P38’s in 42 that could be found in the pacific in small numbers did have a performance edge over the Zero of almost 100 mph at certain altitudes, so this would be a example of plane that despite it’s time, should for sake of balance be rated higher that its entry time would suggest.
The theaters we had before felt oddly well balanced, now with the mash up, I find the experience more frustrating, when it was intended to address the seeming lack of balance.
Basically from where I sit, they created the problem they sought to resolve.
This isn’t actually anything new per se. You would have had the same issue within a given campaign.
However, now that the campaigns are gone, you’re more likely to play against players that have the optimal plane for a given BR range.
In the campaigns themselves, I actually saw more new players experimenting with planes than the veterans who chose to pad their win stats and run and gun their games. They just put up with the occasional CAS or Vehicle that was tested by new players.
Its only when an obvious vet jumped into a vehicle and started to interrupt the run and gun game seriously that someone jumped into their own plane or tank to counter. Although most tanks were just detpack spammed so really we’re talking about planes.
Now that you’re facing BR optimised teams, the pain will be felt much more acutely as new players trying to XP their first plane will just get erased.
I often leave the BR I planes alone when I’m flying and don’t engage them unless they engage me. Too often they can’t resist though, although some players spot this tactic and accept the situational “truce” for what it is. Esp when I come past them from behind and just wave my wings at them.
